Building dreams in the border region.

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - The border region will not only see poverty eradicated, but also illiteracy eradicated at an accelerated pace. More students will be able to attend school and pursue their dreams of literacy, and many will no longer have to drop out due to the long distance to school. This is certainly the case!

Building dreams in the border region.

At the July 17th meeting to consider the Ministry of Education and Training 's proposal on the policy of investing in school construction for land border communes, the Politburo agreed on the policy of investing in the construction of boarding schools for primary and secondary levels in 248 land border communes. On July 27th, the Politburo chaired a meeting to implement the investment policy.

Regarding schools for border communes, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested that the campaign to build 100 schools in the first phase in 100 land border communes be completed by August 30, 2026 at the latest. These schools will serve as models for further expansion, aiming to build 248 schools within the next 2 to 3 years.

Building schools for students in border areas is indeed a matter that cannot be delayed. The central government has launched the initiative, and local authorities have responded and acted very urgently. At the conference summarizing the implementation of the Project on arranging and stabilizing the population in areas at high risk of flash floods, landslides, and mudslides in mountainous communes of the province for the period 2021-2025, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Xuan Liem stated that Thanh Hoa province has registered to build two boarding schools with multiple levels in border communes. He requested that the province's 16 border communes review essential facilities serving the living, studying, and learning needs of students at schools in their areas. The province will establish three working groups to coordinate with the communes to survey and identify locations for investing in schools that meet the criteria guided by the central government.

Following the Politburo's directive two weeks ago and the Prime Minister's request three days prior, Thanh Hoa province has positioned itself for action. This demonstrates a very prompt and responsible response to the policy, aimed at eradicating poverty in border areas. To eradicate poverty, literacy is essential for people to access science and technology. Building schools, alongside road construction, electricity generation, mechanization, and the provision of plant and animal breeds to difficult border regions, is the fastest and most effective way to sustainably eradicate poverty.

Opening more schools in border areas is also a concrete manifestation of the policy of placing people, especially the future generation of border regions, at the center of development. In many articles and television reports, images of illiterate children in border areas, when asked if they wanted to go to school, all answered yes. Then there are students who aspire to learn to read and write so that they can return to build their villages in the future. But not every child has the strength to conquer the arduous and long journey to school, so their aspirations are often left unfulfilled.

The humane policy of building schools in border areas, and the vivid reality that is about to unfold, affirms the determination to firmly consolidate the border region, creating confidence for the people there to further strengthen the national defense.
