German luxury sedan wins "Car of the Year 2023" title

With the "Car of the Year 2023" format, the car models compete closely for each score. Specifically, the three models Honda Civic, Ford Ranger, Mercedes-Benz S-Class have the same total score of 10 and must consider the total score of the Jury. In the end, the title of "Car of the Year 2023" belongs to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with a total converted score of 10 points and 2922 points of the Jury. Ford Ranger ranked second with a total converted score of 10 points and 2799 points of the Jury, Honda Civic ranked third with a total converted score of 10 points and 2663 points of the Jury.

Accordingly, after 10 days of voting from March 9 to 19, from the list of 108 participating car models, the community selected 42 models that ranked first in 14 segments. After two phases, the Organizing Committee found the 14 most favorite car models corresponding to 14 segments and the models that won the titles of "car of the year 2023", "green car of the year 2023", "impressive car of the year 2023".

Otofun representative also confirmed that the voting was conducted objectively with more than 40 independent judges in addition to votes from members of many prestigious auto forums in Vietnam .

The new and different point in the scoring process of the Jury this year is that the Organizing Committee of Car of the Year 2023 has made an effort to carry out a program to evaluate the newly launched series of cars for the Jury in both regions. This is one of the new and outstanding activities of this year's program.

The Organizing Committee has prioritized the selection of 20 outstanding new car models introduced in the past year and currently receiving the most attention from users such as: Mercedes-Benz EQS, VinFast VF8, Nissan Kicks, Ford Territory, Honda Civic,... to organize test drives. The event took place in both the North and the South, with the participation of 35 members of the Jury, allowing each member to experience many different car models, at many levels of operation, in order to be able to accurately score according to the program's 10 criteria.

As a result, the title of "Green Car of the Year 2023" for the pioneering model using new energy sources and reducing emissions belongs to VinFast VF 8. VinFast's electric SUV has successfully surpassed candidates such as Mercedes-Benz EQS or Volvo XC90 T8 Recharge to win. The car model from the Vietnamese automaker quickly received a large number of orders after a short time on sale. Up to now, after 6 months of delivery, nearly 3,700 VF 8 cars have been delivered. VinFast VF8 is considered one of the pioneering models in the electric car revolution for Vietnamese people with the trend of Green living, environmentally friendly.

Meanwhile, the title of "impressive car of the year 2023" for the model with the most drastic changes compared to other models in the same segment in terms of design, technology, and operation belongs to Ford Everest. Ford's SUV has successfully surpassed candidates such as VinFast VF 8, Kia Sportage or Hyundai Elantra to win. In addition, one of the factors that made the SUV from the "land of the stars and stripes" win is the number of orders. According to statistics, immediately after its launch, Ford Everest has continuously been the model that users are most interested in and the best-selling in the segment.

The highest rated D-segment sedan is the Toyota Camry.

Ford Ranger is still the leader in the pickup segment.

The most popular cars in the small, mid-size and large sedan segments are the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes E-Class and Mercedes-Benz S-Class respectively.

The program's organizers said that the acceptance of a car model depends primarily on the needs, habits, characteristics of the market and the selling price. A car model can sell well in one place but completely disappear in another. Therefore, the organizers believe that the Program's titles should target the community of car enthusiasts and car users.

By announcing the titles to the community instead of the producers, the Organizing Committee also wants to affirm to all members who participated in the vote that these titles were voted fairly and impartially, without any outside interference to change the results.
