Ms. Linh had a good start in life, working as a saleswoman at Co.opmart Dong Xoai. In 2013, she married Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hieu (45 years old) who worked as a security guard. The couple lived with her husband's parents in a small house in Tien Thanh 3 neighborhood, Dong Xoai ward, Dong Nai province. The small family has welcomed 3 children: Nguyen Ngoc Minh Duc (13 years old), Nguyen Ngoc Manh Cuong (9 years old) and Nguyen Ngoc Minh Khue (5 years old).
Life was full of love and hope for the future, then disaster suddenly struck. In August 2023, Mr. Hieu suffered a stroke and cardiac arrest. After 26 days of life and death, in the special emergency room at Cho Ray Hospital, Mr. Hieu was saved, but in an unconscious state, paralyzed all over. As long as there was life, there was hope, Ms. Linh transferred her husband to a rehabilitation hospital, where treatment and medicine costs amounted to tens of millions of dong per month.

For nearly a year, Ms. Linh was forced to quit her job to take care of her husband, losing her main source of income. In addition to the support from her family and Mr. Hieu's social assistance for the disabled, Ms. Linh had to run around everywhere, a little bit at each place, the amount of money borrowed up to now has reached more than 600 million VND. Helpless before the huge cost burden, after 8 months of holding on, Ms. Linh had to make the most painful decision: bring her husband back and continue to care for him at home.
In the midst of the chaos caused by illness and debt, another disaster struck like a fatal blow: Linh's mother-in-law, Mrs. Pham Thi Bieng (69 years old), while riding a bicycle to sell some vegetables, unfortunately had a traffic accident and broke her hip. Now, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Chi (71 years old), Linh's father-in-law, has to take care of both his wife who had an accident and his son who had a stroke.
The financial burden continues to weigh down on the poor mother, turning her daily life into a constant struggle. Every day, in addition to working as a supermarket employee, Linh has to look for overtime work, working late at night at a restaurant, earning only about 7 million VND/month. The amount is nothing compared to the cost of medicine and daily living expenses of 7 members.

What pained her the most was not only the material burden, but also the worry about the future of her children. Especially Nguyen Ngoc Manh Cuong, who had just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and had to take medication and have regular check-ups. Covering her face with her hands, tears bursting out, the hard-working mother exclaimed: "I am not afraid of hardship, not afraid of debt, but only afraid that one day I will no longer have enough strength to hold on and will have to let my children drop out of school. For me, every day my children go to school is a day with a glimmer of light, the only reason I do not collapse."
A small family, with a huge burden, is in dire need of the community's help. Every help is not only money to cover medical expenses, but also a bond of love to pull a hard-working woman out of the abyss of despair, and to protect the children's dream of going to school.
