The northern mountainous provinces, with their majestic landscapes and unique indigenous culture, have become attractive destinations for those seeking trekking experiences, relaxation, or immersing themselves in vibrant festivals.
The end of the year is the ideal time to explore Vietnam, where each region boasts its own unique beauty. In particular, the northern mountainous provinces, with their majestic landscapes and distinctive local culture, become attractive destinations for those seeking trekking experiences, relaxation, or immersing themselves in vibrant festivals.
From November onwards, Lao Cai enters winter, with fog blanketing the valleys and mountains, creating an ethereal landscape that is both romantic and mysterious. During the coldest days, frost blankets tree branches and rooftops, reminding many tourists of Europe. However, it is the local people and culture that are the greatest attraction. At the markets of Bac Ha and Can Cau, the Mong, Dao, Tay, and Nung ethnic groups gather from early morning, bringing agricultural products, brocade fabrics, livestock, and the sounds of flutes and laughter. The warm aroma of corn wine blends with the fragrance of thang co (a local stew), making visitors want to linger longer to experience the rhythm of life in the highlands, where all transactions begin with sincerity.
Peach blossoms have appeared in many highland villages.
Thanks to synchronized infrastructure investment, the number of tourists visiting Lao Cai in the last months of the year has increased sharply. Sa Pa, Y Ty, and Bac Ha often achieve over 90% occupancy rates on weekends, confirming the attractiveness of the year-end tourist season. The provincial government is also promoting green tourism, community tourism, and experiential agriculture , encouraging local people to participate so that each trip is both an experience for tourists and increases their income, while preserving the culture.

In Quang Ninh, starting in December 2025, many attractive events will take place: the "Shining Dragon Bay" lighting festival, a food market, traditional folk music and dance performances, a water show, and a countdown program to celebrate Christmas and New Year's Day. These programs are aimed at families, young people, and international tourists from ASEAN, India, Australia, and the United States. Simultaneously, the province will upgrade its products and services and apply digital technology to improve service quality, striving to maintain growth momentum and boost tourism during the autumn-winter and Tet (Lunar New Year) seasons, with the goal of welcoming over 20 million visitors in 2025.

A new and noteworthy destination is the "Legendary Truong Son Road - Command Cave" in Quang Tri, recently honored as a Creative Tourism Product of 2025. Visitors can experience 360-degree virtual reality with 9D technology on a ZIL-130 truck model, transforming into soldiers driving on the Truong Son Road, feeling the vibrations, bomb smoke, and heat on the fierce supply route. AR technology recreates images of soldiers, turning the trip into a journey back in time, combining exploration of magnificent nature and war artifact exhibitions, providing a vivid and educational historical experience.

Travel businesses are also actively stimulating demand during the year-end season. Mr. Pham Van Bay, Deputy Director of Vietravel Tourism Joint Stock Company - Hanoi Branch, said that the company is offering 1,000 discount vouchers of up to 1 million VND for domestic and international tours, including autumn-winter, Christmas, New Year's Day, and Lunar New Year 2026 itineraries. Many special offers for overseas Vietnamese and the "Lucky Draw - Opening the Spring with Good Fortune" program promise to attract a large number of tourists.

According to the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, in the first 10 months of 2025, the market recovered strongly, with domestic tourists reaching approximately 125 million and international tourists reaching 17.2 million. Travel revenue is estimated at VND 77,400 billion, while accommodation and food services revenue is estimated at VND 695,100 billion. This reinforces expectations that the last two months of the year – Christmas, New Year's Day, and Lunar New Year – will help the tourism industry achieve or surpass its targets, making Vietnam an attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists.
