In 2025, the Thai capital will once again surpass many European cities, taking the number one spot in the top 10 cities receiving the most international visitors worldwide .

The number of foreign visitors to Bangkok exceeded 30.3 million. This data was researched and published by Euromonitor, a global market research company based in the UK.

According to Time Out, Bangkok has long been known to independent travelers and is becoming even more attractive with its vibrant nightlife and a plethora of restaurants and hotels.

In 2025, Bangkok will have one of the most amazing streets in the world - Charoen Nakhon.

1. Bangkok, Thailand (30.3 million visitors)

2. Hong Kong, China (23.2 million)

4. Macao, China (20.4 million visitors)

Accordingly, Asian cities dominate the top 10, with only London and Paris from Europe making the list. The top two positions are held by Bangkok and Hong Kong from Asia.

In early December, Euromonitor also published its ranking of the top 100 destinations based on 55 criteria across six categories, including economic efficiency, tourism policies, safety, sustainability, and overall attractiveness.

According to this 2025 Top 100 Cities ranking, the Asia Pacific region stands out as the second-largest region globally in terms of international visitor numbers, recording the fastest growth rate worldwide with a 10% increase, exceeding 350 million visitors, followed by the Middle East and Africa region with a 7% growth rate.

Euromonitor's report stated: "Amidst economic hardship and political uncertainty, global tourism has shown exceptional resilience over the past year. International arrivals to the top 100 cities increased by 8% to 720 million, demonstrating the ability to adapt, innovate and offer experiences that the world's tourists still find appealing."

Euromonitor points out several trends for 2025, for example: To avoid tourist overload, cities are reshaping their tourism strategies, focusing on value rather than quantity.

This means targeting guests who stay longer, spend more and are more responsible towards the local environment and culture.

To accommodate the growing number of tourists, the UK and the US have increased entry fees. The European Union is preparing to introduce the European Travel Authorization System (ETIAS) next year with even higher fees.

Meanwhile, Japan is undergoing a series of changes, including increased visa fees and a new electronic travel permit system, which could launch in 2028.
