50 Years of Vietnam-Thailand Relations: Promoting Cultural Cooperation and People-to-People Exchanges

During the meeting, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, Pham Viet Hung, informed Minister Nguyen Van Hung about the situation in Thailand and Vietnam-Thailand relations, noting that the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026. The Embassy has submitted a proposal seeking input from relevant ministries and agencies regarding the organization of commemorative activities next year and hopes that the Minister and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will provide support for activities and events organized by Thailand in both Thailand and Vietnam.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that Ambassador Pham Viet Hung and representatives of Vietnamese agencies beside the Embassy met with athletes before the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games to encourage and boost the athletes' spirit when they arrived in Thailand.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung shared his joy with the efforts, endeavors and achievements of the Embassy and Vietnamese agencies working alongside the Embassy in recent times. The Minister said that these activities have contributed significantly to raising the Vietnam-Thailand relationship to a new level.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that the Party and State always consider diplomatic activities with other countries to be very important for peace, development, and mutual benefit. The Minister emphasized that cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges are important bridges for maintaining sustainable cooperative relationships. Minister Nguyen Van Hung stated that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is conducting many cultural activities in several countries, including Thailand, to preserve, promote, and spread Vietnamese cultural values, as well as the beauty of the Vietnamese people and country, to international friends.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung stated that Thailand, being a neighboring country with a large Vietnamese expatriate community and a close neighbor to Vietnam, would facilitate the promotion of activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as the organization of events showcasing the beauty of Vietnamese life and culture to the Vietnamese expatriate community and friends in Thailand. Minister Nguyen Van Hung added that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism would prioritize coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand in joint diplomatic activities.

In the immediate future, we can organize "Vietnam Cultural Day in Thailand" or support you to organize "Thai Cultural Day in Vietnam" or take it further, organize a Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival, towards connecting destinations and promoting tourism.

During the Vietnamese sports delegation's participation in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, the Vietnamese Embassy implemented many practical support measures to ensure the most favorable conditions for athletes, coaches, and professional staff. Under the direction of Ambassador Pham Viet Hung, the embassy staff organized the reception of the delegations at the airport; coordinated with Thai authorities to facilitate the quick completion of immigration procedures and transportation to their accommodations. At the same time, the Embassy maintained direct contact with the SEA Games 33 Organizing Committee to update information, promptly respond to, and handle any technical and logistical requests arising related to the Vietnamese delegation.

In addition, the Embassy assists in arranging transportation for athletes when necessary; works with suppliers to order food according to the specific nutritional requirements of each team, ensuring it is suitable for training and competition conditions. Welcoming the Vietnamese sports delegation to the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese Embassy and related agencies have made thorough preparations to provide the highest level of support before, during, and after this sporting event.
