The Hai Van bypass and National Highway 14B, National Highway 1A (section through Da Nang city) are three important traffic routes of the city, so there are many large-tonnage freight vehicles operating continuously day and night. In response to this reality, the Department of Transport Inspectorate in coordination with the Traffic Inspection Teams of districts and towns regularly organizes load inspections of large transport vehicles suspected of being overloaded according to regulations.

According to Mr. Le Tang, Deputy Chief of Office of the Traffic Safety Committee, the work of checking and controlling vehicle loads on main roads in the city is maintained regularly and continuously by the Department of Transport Inspectorate to promptly detect and prevent acts of driving vehicles transporting goods that violate regulations on size and overload, ensuring traffic safety and order, and protecting road traffic infrastructure.

Based on the actual records at the scene, it can be seen that the Department of Transport Inspectorate maintains the operation of the mobile vehicle weight inspection station on Truong Son Road continuously 12 hours a day and 7 days a week. The Department Inspectorate also arranges regular forces to be on duty to handle cases of vehicle weight violations, especially on National Highway 14B, National Highway 1A, and the South Hai Van bypass.

It is known that, in addition to strictly punishing violations of vehicle weight, the Department of Transport Inspectorate also reminds and educates drivers and cargo owners. Up to now, the number of violations has shown signs of decreasing compared to previous years.

“For cases of intentional violations, the Department of Transport Inspectorate will resolutely handle them according to regulations, especially vehicles carrying materials, sand and soil from construction sites that violate regulations and cause environmental pollution, and vehicles with large overloads that cause traffic safety violations...” Mr. Nguyen Phung Hien, Deputy Chief Inspector of the Department of Transport, emphasized.

It is known that in the first 9 months of 2024, there were 3,271 vehicles passing through the mobile vehicle weight inspection station, of which 3,199 vehicles did not violate the law and 72 vehicles violated the law. Of the 72 vehicles violating the law, 27 vehicles were warned (because of overloading ≤10%) and 45 vehicles were handled for violations.

The Department of Transport Inspectorate has recorded 68 administrative violations and issued fines totaling more than VND825 million. For the act of transporting goods exceeding the weight limit, 39 cases have been recorded and fines totaling VND789 million have been issued.

In addition to combining with vehicle weight inspection through the station and mobile vehicle weight inspection, the Department of Transport Inspectorate also organizes vehicle weight inspection using portable scales to handle the situation of vehicles avoiding mobile vehicle weight inspection stations. As a result, from January 1, 2024 to present, the Inspectorate has drawn up records of 49 cases and issued decisions to impose administrative fines of more than 1.3 billion VND.

In the coming time, in addition to handling oversized and overloaded vehicles, the Department of Transport Inspectorate will also increase patrols, inspections, and handling of vehicles that stop and park in violation of regulations, cars entering prohibited roads and prohibited hours causing traffic congestion; ensure traffic safety and order in front of school gates; control vehicle loads using portable scales, check the expansion of cargo box sizes of trucks in the city; continue to handle trucks and passenger cars violating the prohibition signs on traffic through Thuan Phuoc Bridge and Song Han Bridge; passenger cars with more than 30 seats entering the center of Da Nang city during rush hours...

According to Director of the Department of Transport Bui Hong Trung, thanks to the drastic participation of units and functional forces in patrolling and controlling, promptly detecting and handling violations of traffic safety laws and regulations, violations of regulations on freight transport activities, traffic safety and order situation, freight transport activities are in order, most transport business units and drivers strictly comply with regulations on traffic safety and order, and freight transport business.

In order to help vehicle owners and drivers avoid violations of the law on goods transportation, the transport sector has implemented a plan to control vehicle weight, check the operation of four-wheel electric vehicles and driving practice vehicles on the roads; strengthen inspection, examination and handling of violations of order and traffic safety during holidays, Tet, and key tourist areas with many tourists... At the same time, proactively implement the plan to control vehicle weight using portable scales, check the expansion of the size of truck cargo boxes in the city.
