Within the framework of the visit and work in Canada, on the afternoon of July 29, the Khanh Hoa provincial delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council coordinated with the Consulate General of Vietnam and the Vietnam - Canada Business Association (VCB Association) to organize a seminar, exchange and explore the possibility of promoting economic cooperation between Khanh Hoa and Richmond City, British Columbia. This event received special attention from the Richmond City government, part of the Vancouver metropolitan area (British Columbia) and attracted many Canadian businesses to attend.

At the seminar, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan introduced Khanh Hoa as a bright spot in the country in terms of economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic; currently, the province ranks 9th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide in terms of growth rate. Tourism is the province's spearhead economic sector with a growth rate of more than 126% in 2022. Up to now, the province has connected direct flights with a number of key international tourist markets, such as: Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand... Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan commented that Khanh Hoa and Vancouver have similar potentials and strengths, and can support each other in economic development, especially the marine economy and tourism. With the advantage of both sides having international airports, it will be a condition to establish a direct flight from Khanh Hoa to Vancouver. In addition, increasing delegation exchanges and cooperation between the business communities of both sides will contribute to expanding trade and taking advantage of and promoting the effectiveness of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) for both sides. Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan affirmed that Khanh Hoa always welcomes, accompanies, and supports foreign businesses and investors, including Canadian investors, to cooperate in business and investment in the province.

Through direct discussions with the Department of Planning and Investment of Khanh Hoa , representatives of Canadian enterprises were provided with full information; at the same time, they expressed their confidence in the fairness and transparency in implementing policies and procedures for project implementation in the province and wished to soon carry out activities to research and promote investment in Khanh Hoa in the coming time. Mr. Dau Manh Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam - Canada Business Association said that the association currently has more than 700 members, of which about 70% are of Vietnamese origin. The Vietnam - Canada Business Association can act as a bridge for enterprises in Richmond City, Vancouver in particular and British Columbia in general, to cooperate and invest in Khanh Hoa or vice versa.
At the end of the discussion, Mr. Chak Au, Richmond City Councilor, said that he had a good impression of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa during his survey trip to Vietnam in 2022. He saw the potential and investment opportunities in Khanh Hoa in the fields of: Tourism, food processing, logistics... He hopes to help connect investors from Richmond City to Khanh Hoa to strengthen cooperation between the two sides in the fields of tourism, import-export and maritime transport.

Here, Consul General Nguyen Quang Trung noted that he will continue to act as a bridge, promote delegation exchanges, promote the establishment of local-level cooperation between Khanh Hoa province and Richmond city and investment cooperation in the fields of trade and tourism. The Consul General suggested that Khanh Hoa province further strengthen tourism promotion and investment promotion activities; at the same time, study and coordinate the organization of cultural and artistic activities to serve the Vietnamese community living in Canada during holidays and Tet.
On this occasion, the provincial delegation came to learn about the activities of the Fishing Port and seafood catching for major export of Richmond City, where a large number of overseas Vietnamese work and do business.
