The Food Safety Department informed that based on the results of post-inspection on product declaration registration and self-declaration, the Department discovered that the above product was advertised and sold on Shopee but was not granted a certificate of product declaration registration as publicly disclosed.

Specifically, the product "12kg weight loss MINAMI belly fat reduction" is registered under the name of HKK Trading Company Limited (address: 7th floor, 69 Nguyen Huy Quang, Hanoi ), with announcement number 5438/2024/DKSP dated July 12, 2024; however, through searching, the Department has never issued a certificate of acceptance for this product.

According to current regulations, all functional food products before being circulated on the market must be registered for declaration or self-declared at the competent state management agency.

In particular, product groups such as health protection foods, medical nutritional foods and foods for special diets must have a certificate of product declaration registration before being allowed to do business. Meanwhile, food supplements must self-declare and submit the declaration dossier to the provincial management agency according to regulations.

Due to the above violation, the Food Safety Department requested Shopee to urgently review the entire list of functional food products being traded, and only allow the trading of licensed or legally declared products.

At the same time, Shopee must immediately stop doing business and remove all advertising information and transactions related to the MINAMI 12kg weight loss product to reduce belly fat from the system.

In addition, the Department also requested the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy to notify e-commerce platforms and online stores to stop trading infringing products, and handle them according to the provisions of law to strengthen the management of functional foods in the online environment.

The Food Safety Department recommends that consumers do not buy and use the MINAMI 12kg weight loss product to reduce belly fat mentioned above, and only choose health protection food products that have been licensed and announced by competent authorities, to ensure health safety and legitimate rights of themselves.

On November 12, Shopee Company Limited said that after receiving the information, Shopee is reviewing and removing the violating products.
