On March 28, 11 leading Taiwanese universities came to Vietnam to connect with universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City, looking for candidates to study semiconductor programs.
Dr. Tran Hoa Hien, head of the education department (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City), said this is a "special program for educating international industrial talents" (INTENSE program).
The program was first implemented by Taiwan for students from three countries: Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, studying majors related to the semiconductor industry in Taiwan.
The target candidates are 3rd year students or college or university graduates. The minimum GPA requirement is 60/100 points. If choosing the Chinese program, students need a TOCFL A2 certificate or higher upon admission, and for the English program, TOEIC 550 or higher.
Study time in Taiwan lasts 2 years. International students are exempted from 100% tuition fees for 2 years of study in Taiwan, except for the second year, there will be an additional condition of academic performance in the first year.
Students are supported with additional airfare to Taiwan and are exempted from paperwork fees. In addition, international students are supported by semiconductor companies in Taiwan with living expenses of 10,000 NTD, equivalent to about 7.7 million VND.
Graduates will receive a bachelor's or master's degree corresponding to the program. They will work for the supporting company for at least 2 years, most of which are companies operating in the semiconductor industry. After that, they can choose to stay in Taiwan to continue working or return to Vietnam.
Mr. Liao Xin De, Vice President of Ming Hsin University of Science and Technology (Taiwan), said that Taiwanese semiconductor companies are currently "thirsty" for high-quality human resources in the semiconductor industry, so they always want to cooperate with universities to find potential students. The training program is also designed by semiconductor companies with universities, according to their labor needs.
According to Mr. Lieu Tin Duc, international students receive maximum support when participating in the program. In addition to receiving scholarships and living expenses, students also receive free dormitories and paid internships while studying at the school.
In the coming time, after disseminating the scholarship and receiving the application documents, Taiwanese universities will come directly to Vietnam to interview candidates. In addition to the September 2024 admission period, the INTENSE program will also prepare for admission for the February 2025 period.
Interested students can contact the program through the Admissions Office in Vietnam, email address: [email protected].
