VND 1.91 billion to support the construction of a sustainable forest product supply chain, improve forest resilience and biodiversity in Quang Tri

The Provincial People's Committee has just approved the project document "Promoting sustainable supply chains, empowering communities, improving forest resilience and biodiversity, sharing cross-border knowledge and experience - phase 7.2 in Quang Tri". The project is funded by non-refundable aid from WWF in Vietnam, with a total implementation capital of over VND 1.91 billion. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Tri province is assigned to be the project owner. The implementation period is from now until August 31, 2025.

The project's operational components include: Strengthening resilience to climate change (supporting communities with knowledge on sustainable management of natural forests and certified plantations). Building and operating a system to monitor rattan reserves and exploitation, sharing knowledge on production and business in the sustainable rattan supply chain through annual forums of processing enterprises, and moving towards establishing the Vietnam Rattan Association.

Piloting the “Innovation Fund” to encourage initiatives to improve livelihoods, ecosystem services and resilience to climate change. Piloting programs and tools to promote and support natural solutions, contributing to conservation and livelihood improvement. Communicating and promoting knowledge and experience from project activities.

The project aims to promote sustainable forest product supply chains, empower communities in production management and development, improve forest resilience and biodiversity, and share experiences to replicate good ideas and models.
