On June 7, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee (HCMC People's Committee) sent a document to the Government Office regarding its opinions on the plan and method of implementing the HCMC-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh expressway construction project.
In particular, Ho Chi Minh City will proactively balance and arrange the budget (total estimated investment of about 2,000 billion VND) to organize and promote the effective investment of this project and the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project.
According to the decision, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City supports the project implementation method as proposed by the People's Committee of Binh Duong province with the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh City-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh expressway connecting with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 (in Binh Duong province).
This is consistent with the Road Network Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1454/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2021.
With the connecting section from Ring Road 2 (Go Dua intersection) to Ring Road 3 not included in the planning of the Ho Chi Minh City-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh expressway, the connecting section of the expressway will be divided into two sections.
In Binh Duong province (from Ring Road 3 to the border of Ho Chi Minh City), the existing DT.743 road has been invested with a length of about 7.15km.
For the section in Ho Chi Minh City with a length of about 1.65km, the City People's Committee has agreed with the Ministry of Transport to implement from Go Dua intersection along Provincial Road 43 (Thu Duc City) about 800m, then turn right onto DT.743 road.
Ho Chi Minh City will study design standards, operating conditions, review traffic forecast data, transportation demand, and relevant approved plans to develop and implement appropriate solutions.
At the same time, it is recommended to study a suitable solution for the intersection between Ring Road 3 and the Ho Chi Minh City-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh Expressway during the expressway's phase to organize traffic safely, facilitate circulation, and promote the project's investment efficiency.
According to the planning of Vietnam's expressway network until 2020, with a vision to 2030, the Ho Chi Minh City-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh expressway has a total length of about 69km; it is expected that new investment will be made on a scale of 6-8 expressway lanes, to be implemented before 2030./.
