Storm Kalmaegi (storm No. 13) has caused widespread damage in Gia Lai province and many neighboring areas, seriously disrupting people's lives. According to a report from the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, the total damage in the province is estimated at more than VND5,000 billion, the highest level in many years. The storm killed two people, injured many others, damaged or collapsed tens of thousands of houses, disrupted electricity and water systems, and cut off traffic. Agricultural production also suffered heavy losses with tens of thousands of hectares of crops damaged and thousands of livestock and poultry swept away. Coastal fishermen were greatly affected as many boats were damaged and could not return to sea in a short time.
Immediately after the storm, local authorities and rescue forces urgently supported people to clean up, rebuild houses, restore infrastructure and ensure social security. However, the extent of damage was so great that the whole society needed to join hands to help people rebuild their lives.
On the afternoon of November 13, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh personally went to Gia Lai to inspect the situation and chaired an online meeting on overcoming the consequences of storms and floods and restoring production in provinces from Ha Tinh to Dak Lak. The Prime Minister called on businesses and people to promote the spirit of "whoever has something to help", supporting the Central region to restore tens of thousands of houses before Tet.
Joining hands with the affected people to rebuild their homes, on November 15, Nutifood's Board of Directors decided to donate 10 billion VND. The funds will be received by the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Gia Lai province and promptly distributed to the most needy areas.
Mr. Le Nguyen Hoa, Vice Chairman of Nutifood Board of Directors, said: “After the Kalmaegi storm passed, what we are most concerned about is the difficulties that people are facing. We hope that Nutifood's contribution will help people share some of the burden, rebuild their lives, restore their livelihoods and quickly return to normal life.”
Speaking at the ceremony, the leader of Gia Lai province expressed his deep gratitude to Nutifood for its practical and timely gesture. He said that this was a socially responsible action, demonstrating the company's spirit of solidarity with the community, especially at a time when people are suffering many losses.
During 25 years of development, Nutifood has always considered community responsibility as one of its core values. In addition to supporting funding for natural disaster relief, Nutifood has also implemented many long-term social security programs such as: donating milk and medical equipment during the Covid-19 pandemic; supporting people in flood-hit areas in the Central and Northern regions; coordinating with the Vietnam Red Cross to improve nutrition for disadvantaged people across the country. Each year, Nutifood spends more than 100 billion VND on community-oriented activities, ranging from health care, nutrition to social security support for children, the elderly and the disadvantaged.
In 2025, Nutifood started construction of a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River, a symbolic project worth 1,000 billion VND inspired by the familiar image of water coconut leaves. This is Nutifood's gratitude to consumers who have accompanied the brand for the past 25 years, and is also a testament to Nutifood's long-term vision in caring for community health and bringing sustainable value to society.
