That was the assessment of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam at the opening ceremony of the 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival in 2025, which took place on the evening of November 16 at Phan Ngoc Hien Square (An Xuyen Ward, Ca Mau Province). The event not only honored the typical products of the Cape but also affirmed the province's determination to build the "Ca Mau Crab" brand to reach the national and international level.

The opening ceremony was attended by many central and local leaders, including Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee Nguyen Thanh Tam; Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Phan Nhu Nguyen; President of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance Cao Xuan Thu Van; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam; along with representatives of ministries, branches and leaders of several southwestern provinces.

"Forest Scent - Sea Flavor" Festival with more than 270 booths

The 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival with the theme "Forest Scent - Sea Flavor" took place from November 16 to 22, including many rich activities with the Art Program "Ca Mau Crab: Forest Scent - Sea Flavor" broadcast live on Ca Mau Radio and Television Station, Ho Chi Minh City and many provinces and cities. Exhibition space, trade exhibition with more than 270 booths introducing OCOP products, start-up products, innovation, special cuisine from crab and regional specialties.

Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Steering Committee of the 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival in 2025, emphasized: Ca Mau crab is highly appreciated for its high quality, leading the country in output with over 36,000 tons/year, but is also a cultural symbol, a crystallization of nature and the labor of the people of the Cape. The shrimp - crab - fish farming models combined under the mangrove canopy have affirmed the right direction, both bringing economic efficiency and contributing to the protection of the sustainable ecological environment. This is the core value that Ca Mau always respects, preserves and promotes.

"Ca Mau is a special land where forests and seas meet, where industrious and creative people have known how to exploit natural conditions to build the fisheries industry into an economic pillar. In the vast mangrove ecosystem, sea crabs are favored by nature, with delicious, sweet meat and are favored by domestic and foreign consumers," Mr. Thieu emphasized.

In addition, there are also cultural - sports - tourism activities such as the Southern Amateur Music Festival, Ca Mau Marathon - Vietnam PETRO Cup, crab dishes promotion, folk games and a tour of the ecological crab farming model.

The program “Hello Ca Mau” was held in Ho Chi Minh City to promote the local image, typical products and introduce investment potential to the business community.

He assessed Ca Mau crab as a product with high nutritional value, firm, sweet meat and is favored by the market. The product's being granted a certificate of geographical indication protection further affirms its reputation and quality.

Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam suggested that Ca Mau province develop chain linkages with large corporations to expand production and export markets. Build a system of preliminary processing, preservation, and deep processing, connecting businesses, cooperatives, and farming households. Replicating the shrimp-crab-forest model in a sustainable manner. Apply international standards, improve traceability. Promote the application of digital technology, electronic diaries, and QR codes in tracing, managing farming areas, and e-commerce.

According to Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam, with the spirit of innovation, advantages in natural conditions, labor resources and local initiative, Ca Mau has all the foundations to become a strong aquaculture center of the region, a place where production links the economy - environment and people's lives.

This year's festival is expected to create a new boost for the Ca Mau crab industry, contributing to bringing this unique product further on the national and international seafood map.
