According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 a.m., the water level of Tra Khuc River at Son Giang station was 36.25m, 0.25m above alarm level 2; at Tra Khuc station it was 5.36m, 0.36m above alarm level 2.
It is forecasted that by 1:00 p.m. this afternoon (November 17), the water level will reach 6.8m, exceeding the BĐ3 level by 0.3m. In the next 6-24 hours, the flood on the Tra Khuc River will gradually decrease and be below BĐ2 level. The hydrometeorological agency warns of the risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, urban areas, and residential areas in Quang Ngai provinces/cities. There is a high risk of flash floods on rivers and streams and landslides on steep slopes in Quang Ngai provinces/cities.
Along with Tra Khuc River in Quang Ngai, water levels of rivers in Quang Tri, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa are rising and above BĐ1; water levels of rivers in Hue City and Da Nang City are at BĐ2 - BĐ3. Water levels of some rivers are above BĐ2.

The cause is heavy rain of hundreds of mm in the past 24 hours. From the morning of November 16 to the morning of November 17, the provinces/cities from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa had moderate, heavy, and very heavy rain.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecasting Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (Department of Hydrometeorology, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), this heavy rain is expected to last until November 18, so many rivers in the Central region will also be affected. It is forecasted that from today until November 20, floods on rivers from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa will continue to rise.
Flood peaks of rivers in Hue city, Da Nang city, Quang Ngai; Kon river, upper Ba river (Gia Lai), lower Ba river, Ky Lo river (Dak Lak), Dinh Ninh Hoa river (Khanh Hoa) may reach level 2-3, some rivers above level 3; rivers in Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, rivers in Gia Lai, rivers in Dak Lak, rivers in Khanh Hoa may reach level 1-2 and above level 2.
“In this heavy rain, in addition to the rising floodwaters on rivers, we pay special attention to areas at risk of flooding, flash floods and landslides. Not only the strip from Ha Tinh to the east of Quang Ngai province, but also Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa provinces and the eastern part of Lam Dong province are in high-risk areas. These areas are forecast to have prolonged rain, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides,” Mr. Huong emphasized.

Flood level 2-3, with rivers above level 3: Kien Giang (Quang Tri); Bo River, Huong River (Hue City); Vu Gia - Thu Bon River (Da Nang); Tra Khuc River, Ve River, Se San River (Quang Ngai); Kon River, upper Ba River (Gia Lai), lower Ba River, Ky Lo River (Dak Lak), Dinh Ninh Hoa River (Khanh Hoa).
Flood level 1-2 and above 2: Ngan Sau, Ngan Pho (Ha Tinh), Gianh River, Thach Han River (Quang Tri), An Lao River, Lai Giang River (Gia Lai), Krong Ana River, Srepok (Dak Lak), Cai River (Khanh Hoa).
