2,000 athletes in 5 wards of Ho Chi Minh City compete in sports, aiming for the City Congress

On the morning of November 15, the 2025 Inter-ward Sports Congress, including the wards of Binh Thanh, Gia Dinh, Thanh My Tay, Binh Loi Trung and Binh Quoi (HCMC), officially opened and kicked off the first competition. The Congress was jointly organized by the People's Committees of the above wards, towards the 10th HCMC Sports Congress.

The congress aims to promote the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", contributing to strengthening the spirit of solidarity, exchange and learning between wards, and at the same time discovering and selecting outstanding athletes to participate in the City-level Sports Congress in the coming time.

The congress attracted the participation of about 2,000 athletes who are citizens living and working in the inter-ward area; agencies, departments, branches, and organizations at the city and central levels in the inter-ward area of Binh Thanh, Gia Dinh, Thanh My Tay, Binh Loi Trung and Binh Quoi.

Taking place from November 15 to December 30, the congress organized 8 competitions including table tennis, soccer, swimming, badminton, chess, athletics, tug of war and pickleball.

Speaking at the opening of the congress, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Loan - Director of the Binh Thanh Ward Cultural and Sports Service Center, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Inter-ward Sports Congress - said that the congress is held every four years to evaluate the mass sports movement, to praise the spirit of training, the will to compete honestly and honorably of the athletes. This is also an opportunity for localities to exchange, learn, strengthen solidarity, contribute to improving spiritual life, and build a civilized and healthy community.

Head of the Congress Organizing Committee - Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Loan delivered the opening speech of the congress.

On behalf of the localities, Mr. Vu Ngoc Tuat - Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Binh Thanh Ward - performed the torch lighting ceremony of the congress.

Ms. Loan stated that the Organizing Committee will make every effort to successfully organize the congress, ensuring safety, solidarity, honesty and nobility, in line with the spirit of sportsmanship and the movement "Healthy to build and protect the Fatherland". "With the spirit of Solidarity - Exchange - Progress, I believe that the athletes will compete with all their might, honestly, in solidarity, demonstrating the noble spirit of sportsmanship", Ms. Loan said.
