It is known that from 1:00 p.m. on November 29, the APG international submarine cable line had a fault on branch S8 near Thailand, causing disruption to all international Internet connections on the line.

A representative of an Internet service provider - ISP in Vietnam said: the cause of the problem has not yet been determined and there is no expected plan for when the error will be fixed.
During this time, the international submarine cable AAE-1 is also experiencing problems and has not yet fully restored connection capacity on the line.
The incident on the AAE-1 line occurred on two branches, S1H3 between the landing station in Cambodia and Vietnam and S1H5 connecting to Singapore. The incident on the S1H3 branch has been resolved, while the incident on the S1H5 branch has been postponed more than three times, and is expected to fully restore capacity on December 5.
Thus, currently, 2/5 submarine fiber optic cables connecting the Internet from Vietnam to the international are having problems. These 2 fiber optic cables account for the majority of the Internet connection capacity from Vietnam to the international, so users using the Internet connection of these 2 cables will be affected.
The Telecommunications Department said: Vietnam is currently operating 5 submarine optical cable lines with a total capacity of more than 20Tbps and a total available capacity of 34Tbps. All of these cable lines connect to the East through the East Sea from 6 landing stations in Da Nang , Quy Nhon and Vung Tau.
According to statistics, Vietnam's submarine optical cable lines encounter an average of 15 incidents each year. If before 2022, the repair time was 1-2 months/incident, from 2022 until now, the time to fix the incident has been longer.
A representative of the Telecommunications Department said that to ensure global communication and data exchange, in 2025 Vietnam will put at least 2 new submarine optical cable lines into operation, and also plans to add at least 8 submarine cable lines by 2030, increasing the total design capacity to meet the minimum "1+2" backup requirement.
