Da Nang invests more than 200 billion VND in developing semiconductor chip design and AI

On November 11, Da Nang city unanimously approved the project to invest in computing infrastructure to serve research and development of semiconductor chip design and artificial intelligence (AI) with a total estimated investment of more than 200 billion VND from the city budget.

According to the People's Committee of Da Nang city, in the context of the world entering the AI and semiconductor era, computing capacity is becoming a decisive factor in the competitive position of countries and cities.

With the vision of becoming a center of innovation and high technology in the Central region, Da Nang has issued many important resolutions and policies on human resource development, infrastructure and businesses in the field of AI and semiconductors. To realize these resolutions, a strong enough infrastructure is needed, which is the high-performance computing (HPC) system.

Investing in HPC is not only a technical project but also a strategic decision for Da Nang to create a breakthrough platform in the field of semiconductors and AI. HPC helps the city master technology, nurture startups, attract investment, and solve socio- economic problems.

The project also contributes to attracting investment, supporting innovative start-ups, microchip, semiconductor and AI businesses at Software Park No. 2; at the same time, connecting universities in the city to support research and training in microchip design and AI.

The project will be installed at the Data Center area on the 2nd floor of the ICT building in Software Park No. 2, Hai Chau Ward. The project implementation period is from 2025 to 2028./.
