On the afternoon of March 5, during the trial of the Van Thinh Phat case, the representative of the People's Procuracy announced the indictment against Ms. Truong My Lan and 85 defendants.
The indictment mentioned three cases, who actively assisted the defendant Truong My Lan in embezzling money from SCB bank, but had passed away when the case was exposed so were not considered for criminal prosecution.
These are the cases of Ms. Nguyen Phuong H. (Deputy General Director) and Nguyen Tien T. (member of the Board of Directors of SCB Bank); Mr. Nguyen Ngoc D. (General Director of Penunsula Group Joint Stock Company, part of the Van Thinh Phat ecosystem).
The indictment determined that Ms. Nguyen Phuong H. and Mr. Nguyen Tien T. participated in building loan files, conducting the review and granting of credit for loans of customers of Van Thinh Phat Group who borrowed capital against the law of SCB bank. These two people were determined to have helped defendant Truong My Lan commit a crime to illegally use and appropriate money from the credit institution.
Regarding the case of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc D. (General Director of Penunsula Group Joint Stock Company, headquartered at 193 - 203 Tran Hung Dao Street, Co Giang Ward, District 1), the prosecution agency clearly stated that he participated in the process of directing the search and hiring of people to take out loans, take out legal entities, own shares, etc.; directly taking out loan contracts and property mortgage contracts. The prosecution agency determined that Mr. D. actively assisted the defendant Truong My Lan in committing the crime.
