Booking app on March 8 released its Holiday Home Outlook Report, surveying the needs of travelers and accommodation owners in booking rooms for the upcoming summer vacation. The survey was conducted with 11,000 homeowners and travelers aged 18 and over in 7 Asia- Pacific countries, including Vietnam.
The report shows that there are five important criteria that Vietnamese guests rely on when deciding to book a room. The most popular factor is that the hotel or motel must have security measures to protect guests (49%). Next are no hidden costs or additional services (46%), easy and flexible booking (46%), guaranteed room availability after deposit (39%) and being able to see reviews from previous guests (38%).
Other factors that are also considered during the booking process include the ability to book instantly (25%), last-minute cancellations with full refunds (24%).
The top 5 important factors for international guests when choosing a hotel to book a room include clean and tidy accommodation (54%), reasonable room rates (52%), area security (52%), location (49%), and beautiful interior and decoration (40%).
The five most popular types of vacation homes in Vietnam include beach houses, chosen by 51% of people. Next are cozy cabins (34%), and farmstays (28%). In addition, tourists tend to look for unique and novel experiences such as staying in tiny houses (25%), classic country-style houses (21%), tents (20%), wooden houses or snow lodges (19%), and floating houses (11%).
Varun Grover, Country Manager of Booking.com in Vietnam, said that in recent years, Vietnamese tourists have increasingly sought out special types of accommodation instead of traditional hotels. He hopes that the resort outlook report will help tourists and accommodation owners better understand each other's aspirations.
