Among the Vietnamese students who won gold medals, three students scored 40 points each. They included twins Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien, grade 11 students at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, Quang Nam province.
The remaining student also scored 40 points, Nguyen Phuc Nguyen, grade 11, Newton Secondary and High School, Hanoi .
The remaining Gold medals went to 3 students: Tran Quang Nhat, grade 12, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang city, with 35 points; Lai Gia Khai, grade 11, High School for the Gifted, Hanoi National University of Education, with 34 points; Vu Viet Ha, grade 12, Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, Hai Duong province, with 31 points.

Previously, at the invitation of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the Vietnamese student delegation attended the 2nd International Mathematical Olympiad for High School Students, Turkmenistan, taking place from April 21 to 26 in the capital Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
The competition was held to honor the “International Year of Peace and Trust”. The team was selected based on the results of the 2025 Regional and International Olympic Team Selection Competition, aiming to create conditions for more outstanding Vietnamese students to participate in international academic exchange activities, expand learning opportunities and improve their capacity, in addition to the official team participating in IMO.
The Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology was assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to preside over training and organize the delegation to attend the exam.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the Turkmenistan Mathematical Olympiad aims to nurture students' talents and abilities, enhance friendship, and develop progressive thinking and open-mindedness among young people.
This year's exam has 15 participating countries, including some countries with good traditions in Mathematics such as China, Russia, Bulgaria, Türkiye, etc.
The Organizing Committee awarded official prizes to 50% of the participating contestants, in which the ratio of Gold: Silver: Bronze medals was 1:2:3. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded certificates of merit to students who achieved the maximum score for a math problem.
The test takes place over one day. The test consists of 5 problems, each worth 10 points. The time limit is 5 hours.
