Early morning of August 19, 2025 - exactly 80 years after August 19, 1945 - the successful August Revolution, despite the rain, many people were present in front of Uncle Ho's Mausoleum to attend the Flag Raising Ceremony at Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi .
The August Revolution of 1945 is an epic of the Vietnamese people's will to rise up and their desire for freedom.
The victory of the August Revolution in 1945 opened a great turning point, bringing the Vietnamese nation into a new era - the era of national independence associated with socialism; our people, from being slaves, became masters of the country and their own destiny.
After 80 years of ups and downs, Vietnam has strongly risen to become a country with development potential, deep integration, and increasingly affirmed international position and reputation.
The new day begins at Ba Dinh Square. At 5:50 a.m., the flag-raising delegation solemnly parades in formation from the right side of President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum to the front of the flagpole to the heroic sound of military music of the march "Marching under the military flag."
Leading the flag-raising procession was the Quyết Thắng flag. Following behind was the honor guard with 34 soldiers, symbolizing the first 34 soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, established in 1944, the predecessor unit of the Vietnam People's Army.
At the foot of the flagpole, when the signal is given, the flag is raised by a guard of honor to the sound of the national anthem.
The flag was slowly raised to the top of the 29m high flagpole in front of President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum. The image of the flag flying over Ba Dinh Square symbolizes the eternal existence of the Fatherland in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.
The Flag Raising Ceremony at Ba Dinh Square is a national ceremony of Vietnam. Since May 19, 2001, the Flag Raising Ceremony has been held at Ba Dinh Square every morning, regardless of sunny, rainy or cold weather.
The Flag Raising Ceremony at Ba Dinh Square was proposed to commemorate the great leader of the nation and was approved by the Government in 2001, on the occasion of the 111th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth. This is a ceremony of great national significance, attracting many people and international visitors to visit and witness, especially on holidays, Tet, and major anniversaries of the country.
