ABAC III: Opportunities to attract foreign investment to Vietnam

Speaking at the press conference introducing the event on the morning of June 19, Mr. Pham Tan Cong - Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI); Chairman of ABAC Vietnam said that the special feature of ABAC is the only business mechanism on the official agenda of high-level leaders (heads of state, heads of APEC economic development countries). This mechanism is implemented between APEC leaders and ABAC members, that is, between representatives of the business sector and representatives of APEC leaders and members.

The Council members are senior leaders of trade promotion organizations and large economic groups. This helps the voice of enterprises to be reflected in a real, profound and direct way in the policy-making process. Since 1995, APEC has played the role of a representative body of enterprises in the Asia- Pacific region and a bridge between enterprises and APEC leaders...

According to the leader of VCCI, in 2025 the world and the region will have many changes, therefore APEC 2015 under the chairmanship of Korea, with the theme "Connection. Enterprise. Reaching out" will be even more important to the economic development of each country. This theme reflects the main spirit: Enterprises are not only the main economic force, but also the bridge between economies, between growth, sustainable development, between growth, innovation and international cooperation. That spirit is also very suitable for the orientation of the Vietnamese business community today, when we are striving to reach out to the world, as well as proactively integrating deeply and widely and ready to face new challenges.

Regarding the role of ABAC Vietnam, Mr. Pham Tan Cong said that ABAC represents the voice of Vietnamese enterprises, with 3 members appointed by the Prime Minister. In 2025, ABAC will launch 5 thematic groups, focusing on: Regional economic integration, promoting sustainable trade and investment; Sustainable development, including circular economy, climate change response and green business; Digital transformation and AI, narrowing the digital gap between economies; Finance and investment towards inclusion and green finance; Healthcare and biotechnology to enhance community economy and supply chain security.

“The upcoming ABAC III meeting in Hai Phong is not only a highlight in the APEC Business Advisory Council’s agenda this year, but also an opportunity for Vietnam to demonstrate its proactive, prestigious and responsible role in APEC. This is also an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to directly approach international partners and APEC members (Presidents and CEOs of world-class corporations and enterprises) to connect with businesses, expand the investment environment, and work together towards an inclusive, prosperous and sustainable economic development region,” affirmed the Chairman of ABAC Vietnam.

Opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to find large investors

At the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh - Vice President of VCCI also emphasized that the results of this ABAC III meeting are extremely important and will be compiled into an official report to be submitted to APEC leaders, for dialogue with ABAC and APEC leaders, scheduled to take place in early November 2025 in Korea. That means that the results will contribute to the shaping of the region's economic, trade and investment policies in the following years.

According to Mr. Vinh, this is not only a foreign affairs event for Vietnam, Hai Phong, and the coastal region, but also has many other practical values. First of all, this is an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its active and leading role in the regional economic integration process, while demonstrating its commitment as a responsible member for the inclusive and sustainable development of the region, especially with the principles of free trade, inclusive development and sustainable responsibility. These are also the core values that APEC and ABAC are pursuing.

This year's meeting is also an opportunity to promote the image of the country, culture and people of Vietnam to the world, thereby enhancing the position of our country, supporting economic diplomacy strategy, promoting tourism, attracting high-quality investment...
