'Across the Spider-Verse' hits half a billion USD mark, continues to dominate the box office

The midweek North American box office update was a surprise, but not a bright one. The animated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, Justin K. Thompson) topped the box office on June 21 with $3.81 million. Its total is now $294 million.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse grossed $503 million worldwide

The blockbuster Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has also just reached the half-billion-dollar mark globally, including $209 million from markets outside North America. The film's total revenue is much better than the first part released in 2018 ($384 million), while the production budget of both parts is almost the same (the first part cost $90 million, this part cost $10 million more).

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse reigns supreme at the box office, despite being a movie that was released a few weeks ago, not one that was released recently.

Two box office newcomers - Elemental (directed by Peter Sohn) and The Flash (directed by Andy Muschietti), held the second and third positions in the box office chart on June 21, with $3.55 million and $3 million, respectively. This is a sad thing because as new works, Elemental and The Flash should have done better.

The Flash is expected to continue to have good revenue this weekend.

The start of these works has not been good. The Flash and Elemental "fired" last week, but The Flash only earned $55 million after 3 days of showing, lower than expected, while Elemental only earned $29.6 million, the lowest of all Pixar animation studio films.

In the weekly box office rankings, however, The Flash is still the most anticipated film, as it is one of the few DC superhero titles this summer. Last week, the film topped the box office, and this week, observers expect the film to continue to reach the number 1 position with a good revenue.
