Agribank – NongHyup Bank strengthens cooperation in agricultural finance and digital transformation towards sustainable development

On October 31, 2025, at Agribank Headquarters, the delegation of NongHyup Bank of Korea (NongHyup Bank) visited and worked with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam (Agribank). The two sides discussed and agreed on many new cooperation directions in the fields of agricultural finance, digital transformation and ESG, towards a sustainable development model.

Attending the meeting, on behalf of NongHyup Bank were Mr. Kang Tae Young - Chairman and General Director; Mr. Jeong Do Yeong - Director of Global Business Division; Mr. Kang Min Wook - Head of Global Business Promotion Department; Mr. Park Chang O - Director of Nonghyup Bank Hanoi Branch. On behalf of Agribank were Mr. Pham Toan Vuong - Member of the Board of Members, General Director; Mr. Doan Ngoc Luu - Deputy General Director; Mr. Do Duc Thanh - Deputy General Director; Mr. Nguyen Khac Trung - Head of Digital Banking Department; Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hien - Head of Financial Institutions Department; Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hanh - Deputy Head of Strategic Planning Department.

NongHyup Bank delegation visited and worked at Agribank

Speaking at the meeting, Agribank General Director Pham Toan Vuong expressed his pleasure to welcome the NongHyup Bank delegation to visit and work at Agribank, and affirmed that the good cooperative relationship between the two financial institutions over the years has contributed to promoting connection activities and experience exchange in the field of finance and banking, especially in the fields serving the development of agriculture , rural areas and farmers, the common strengths of both sides.

Mr. Pham Toan Vuong affirmed that, as a key State-owned commercial bank in the field of agricultural and rural finance, Agribank always values ​​and wishes to expand cooperation with experienced international partners, especially NongHyup Bank - Korea's leading financial group in the fields of agriculture, community finance and modern banking services.
In response, Mr. Kang Tae Young - Chairman and General Director thanked Agribank for the welcome, and shared many experiences in developing financial products serving the agricultural and rural areas, as well as applying digital transformation in retail banking and risk management. He believes that the two sides have great potential for deeper cooperation in the future, especially in the fields of developing green credit products, sustainable investment, digital technology transfer and training high-quality human resources, promoting the role of a financial bridge between Vietnam and Korea.

During the meeting, the two sides also agreed to continue to effectively implement existing cooperation agreements, while expanding into new areas such as green finance, digital banking and sustainable agricultural development. Strengthen cooperation in high-tech agricultural credit, agricultural value chain development, agricultural product commercialization, as well as training exchanges, sharing of governance experience, ESG and rural finance.

NongHyup Bank is a member of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation of Korea (NACF), a leading organization in the field of financial support and service provision for the agricultural sector in Korea.

The cooperative relationship between Agribank and NongHyup Bank was established in 2000 through correspondent banking relations and has been continuously expanded through each period. In 2013, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen business relations in the fields of trade finance, remittances, information sharing and human resource training. In 2017, the two sides continued to sign an Agreement on remittances without an account, facilitating Vietnamese and Korean workers in cross-border financial transactions.

Cooperation in training and professional exchange is a highlight, with more than 500 Agribank officers studying and conducting surveys at NongHyup Bank and more than 100 NongHyup Bank officers being welcomed and trained at Agribank in the period 2017-2019.

Recently, on August 12-13, 2025, a high-level delegation of Agribank led by General Director Pham Toan Vuong visited and officially worked with NongHyup Bank. At the meeting, leaders of the two banks discussed development strategies, shared experiences in connecting the agricultural - financial ecosystem, attracting customers and implementing high-tech agricultural support models. In particular, NongHyup Bank introduced advanced technology solutions in production management, traceability and commercialization of agricultural products, contributing to optimizing the efficiency of the agricultural value chain.

These practical cooperation programs have contributed to strengthening the partnership, enhancing mutual understanding and sharing experiences in agricultural banking management between Agribank and NongHyup Bank.
