After a major renovation, with a harmonious combination of traditional values and modern technology, Da Nang Museum has become an interesting destination in the city. In particular, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought new experiences, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
Listen to the commentary in your native language
The first time coming to Da Nang Museum, Le Thi Yen Vy (3rd year student of Duy Tan University) and her group of friends were surprised by the advanced technology applications here. The highlight is the multilingual virtual assistant, supporting languages and providing detailed information about more than 100 basic artifacts.
According to Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Joint Stock Company (AIAIVN) - the unit coordinating with the museum, this virtual assistant has been improved to support more than 20 languages, and will expand the content about antiquities and artifacts in the future. In addition, the system is also integrated with the website, fanpage, applications such as Messenger, WhatsApp and the online ticketing system, creating maximum convenience for visitors. In addition, the AI-integrated guide robot, fluent in more than 10 languages, is capable of communicating, answering questions instantly and providing accurate directions in the exhibition areas. In the near future, the museum will upgrade the robot to support more than 50 languages and add detailed information about the artifacts, bringing a personalized experience to each visitor. The special attraction for young people at the Da Nang Museum is the HeriStepAI automatic explanation system. When visiting, visitors wear the device, choose the language and listen to the explanation information about the artifacts at each attraction. This technology combines AI and IoT (internet of things), making the experience more vivid and accessible. In addition, the Travist app supports live translation of the tour guide's voice into many languages, helping foreign tourists better understand the destinations in their native language.
According to AIAIVN, Da Nang Museum is implementing a digital transformation strategy with 3 focuses: Collecting and analyzing visitor behavior, personalizing experiences, optimizing exhibition content and tour itineraries; optimizing online ticket sales services, automatic ticket control by QR code and integrating international payments; converting from 2D to 3D, creating an expanded information layer, increasing interaction and effectively managing heritage data warehouses. In addition, a number of other technology solutions are also applied such as AI Camera to identify visitor locations, navigation systems according to visitor traffic, 3D maps on applications and interactive games in the museum...
Recognizing the power of AI, Mr. Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien, Director of Da Nang Museum, said that this is a technology trend for museums to catch up with world standards. However, Mr. Thien also acknowledged that the application of technology is still lacking in synchronization. Therefore, Da Nang Museum is making efforts to build a comprehensive technology ecosystem, turning this place into a center of creativity and lifelong learning.

Create competitive advantage
Over the past 3 years, digital transformation has become a driving force for the strong development of Da Nang's tourism industry. The Department of Tourism (formerly) has built a Smart Tourism Monitoring System capable of recording and storing video /image data; an analysis system to identify objects from the tour guide database. The system supports the inspection and examination of illegal tour guide activities to ensure a safe tourism environment. To date, the system has identified more than 3,000 cases of "underground" guides to serve tourism management.
At the recent workshop "Housekeeping Management in the AI Era", Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, said: "The application of AI and modern technology solutions is an inevitable trend, helping to improve service quality, create differences in tourism products and optimize business efficiency". Mr. Nguyen Quang, Vice President of the Vietnam Hotel Association, commented that AI not only brings opportunities but also challenges for tourism workers in the new era. In the hotel sector, AI not only helps optimize operational processes such as booking management, personalizing customer experiences or predicting demand, but also supports effective marketing and increases revenue. "Although the initial investment cost is not small, the application of technology is considered the key for Da Nang tourism businesses to maintain a competitive advantage and develop sustainably in the digital age" - Mr. Quang said. According to Mr. Quang, hotel managers in the AI era not only need to be good at their profession but also need to have strategic vision, flexibility and the ability to inspire to lead the team. Applying AI in hotel management and operation is an irreversible trend. However, the implementation process requires careful consideration, from technology investment to personnel training, to avoid waste and maximize pioneering opportunities.
Special gift
Sharing about the highlights of the Da Nang tourism festival season in 2025, Mr. Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, said that the highlight is the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025 (DIFF 2025) for the first time integrating AR technology through the Sun Paradise Land platform. According to the representative of the DIFF 2025 Organizing Committee, with a smartphone and the Sun Paradise Land application, the audience can scan paper tickets to enter a vivid virtual reality space, experience stories about nature, indigenous culture and typical symbols of Da Nang such as Dragon Bridge, Son Tra Peninsula or My Khe Beach. "The six shows will feature six different AR themes, faithfully recreating the unique beauty of Da Nang. AR technology will be like a 'second layer of fireworks', bringing a multi-dimensional, new and emotional experience, a special gift for the audience this year" - a representative of the DIFF 2025 Organizing Committee informed.
