Amazon Launches Security Patrol Robot 'Astro for Business'

Amazon has just launched the security patrol robot “Astro for Business” with the ability to map and navigate automatically or via remote control.

Amazon’s “Astro for Business” security patrol robot retails for $2,349. It comes equipped with an HD camera with night vision, allowing for 24/7 real-time monitoring and two-way communication. Agencies, businesses, and organizations can use this robot to monitor their business premises.

In addition to robots, Amazon offers three different subscription services that agencies, businesses, and organizations can use to monitor their premises.

The Ring Protect Pro service plan allows you to save monitoring records from the robot device for 180 days, syncing them with sensors and motion alerts.

The Astro Secure service package enables robots to perform autonomous programmed patrols, moving along routes that the user independently configures.

Amazon's new robot can also send alerts to users and automatically navigate to activated sensors to check for possible abnormalities.

The Virtual Security Guard package is the most premium service package, priced at $99/month, allowing the robot to notify responsible people when detecting strangers, strange sounds or other activities that the robot deems suspicious.

To access the Virtual Security Guard package, users need to subscribe to both the Ring Protect Pro and Astro Secure packages, which cost $20 and $60 per month, respectively.

Amazon is also testing a similar security robot, but only for homes, in 2022. The “Astro for Home” robot is currently only available for pre-order and costs $1,599.
