Lien Khuong Airport closure time set for repairs

On the afternoon of November 25, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee worked with Vietnam Airports Corporation on temporarily suspending operations of Lien Khuong International Airport to repair the runway and taxiway of this airport.

In recent times, Lien Khuong airport infrastructure has been degraded, many overloaded items have affected the frequency of operations. The investment in upgrading Lien Khuong International Airport from 4D standard to 4E standard aims to serve economic and social development, especially tourism and export of high-tech agricultural products. The expected design capacity is about 5 million passengers per year.

According to a representative of Lien Khuong International Airport, it is expected that the unit will start repairing and upgrading the runway, taxiway, electricity and drainage systems, ensuring flight safety... with a total investment value of nearly 1,000 billion VND.

Leaders of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee worked with Vietnam Airports Corporation.

The project is expected to start on March 4, 2026 and be completed by August 25 of the same year. During this time, there will be 500 people and equipment working day and night at the construction site.

Currently, Vietnam Airports Corporation has completed the design, conducted bidding, supervision and inspection agencies, etc. These procedures will be completed in December 2025 to prepare for the groundbreaking early next year.

According to the investor, the Lien Khuong airport runway is being constructed during the dry season, and the current foundation structure is good, so progress is relatively convenient.

“No later than August 25, 2026, Lien Khuong International Airport will be put back into normal operation. Depending on the conditions, we will speed up the progress and may complete it earlier than expected!..”, said a representative of this airport.

Lien Khuong airport will resume operations by August 25, 2026 at the latest.

According to the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province, during the repair of the runway and taxiway of Lien Khuong International Airport, the unit will closely coordinate and create maximum conditions for the investor and contractor to implement the project, speeding up the construction progress.

Comrade Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, said that closing the airport for repairs will greatly affect the movement of people, tourists, and goods circulation, affecting the service sector, tourism , and local economic and social development.

The Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requested the investor and contractor to speed up the progress to the maximum level, complete and put Lien Khuong International Airport back into operation as soon as possible.
