The Deputy Prime Minister requested An Giang province to focus on implementing three key tasks.
First of all, it is necessary to ensure that the provincial and communal government apparatus operates smoothly and effectively from July 1, 2025, without any interruption in handling administrative procedures for people and businesses.
Next, quickly develop a specific action plan that closely follows the Central Government's directives and is suitable for local realities. It is necessary to clearly define tasks, solutions, roadmaps and implementation progress, in order to bring the Central Government's major policies into practice soon.
Finally, promote the spirit of exemplary conduct, responsibility, and solidarity of cadres and civil servants, especially in the process of rearranging personnel and reorganizing the apparatus, ensuring stability and consensus throughout the political system and among the people.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai highly appreciated the efforts and proactive spirit of the entire political system of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces in the process of implementing the merger. At the same time, he pledged that the Party Committee and the government of An Giang province will focus on stabilizing the organization and operating the administrative apparatus effectively right from the first day of establishment.
He also emphasized the key tasks ahead such as: Completing all procedures for organizing the apparatus, appointing personnel, and assigning officials according to the approved plan; soon operating the Public Administration Service Center at the provincial and commune levels; strengthening propaganda to create consensus; successfully organizing the Party Congress at the commune and provincial levels for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 14th National Party Congress; implementing important resolutions on digital transformation, private economic development, institutional reform, etc.
Along with that, we will continue to promote the construction of e-government and urban government; develop a team of professional, qualified and capable officials to meet the requirements of integration. The province will also review and adjust the planning appropriately after the merger, maximize the potential in terms of geography, economy, culture - society, ensure national defense - security and carefully prepare for the organization of the APEC Summit 2027 in Phu Quoc.
Expectations in 3 special administrative regions
Along with the official establishment of the new An Giang province after the merger of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces, a notable point in this administrative reorganization is that An Giang province has 3 more administrative special zones: Phu Quoc, Tho Chau and Kien Hai.

Administrative Center of Tho Chau Special Zone
The establishment of three new administrative zones in An Giang province is expected to create a strong shift in the organization of management and exploitation of the advantages of the sea and islands. This is also an important preparation step to serve international events such as the 2027 APEC Summit in Phu Quoc and the process of forming dynamic development zones in the Mekong Delta.
Special economic zones will receive investment in infrastructure, public services, high-quality human resources, and at the same time take the lead in digital transformation and administrative reform, moving towards a modern governance model to better serve people and businesses.
