The opening activity for the 2025 Vietnam Film Festival is the flower offering ceremony at the Ho Chi Minh President Monument in the park in front of the headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on Nguyen Hue walking street.
Immediately afterwards, delegates and guests attending the Film Festival will attend the opening of the exhibition "HCMC rises with the country through a cinematic perspective".
The exhibition introduces more than 200 printed images extracted from documents and cinematographic works archived at the Vietnam Film Institute; documents and cinematographic works collected from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Television Station, Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association... about the filming location, people, life, the process of innovation, integration and development of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City. The exhibition focuses on 3 periods: Liberation of the South, reunification of the country (1945 - 1975); construction and development of the country (1976 - 1985) and innovation, integration and development (1986 - 2025).
On the morning of November 21, from 10:30 to 12:00, at the City Theater, the Film Festival organizing committee will distribute free invitations to the public to attend the opening ceremony of the festival taking place on the evening of November 21 at Thong Nhat Hall.
On the same afternoon, at 2:00 p.m. at the Galaxy Nguyen Du cinema complex (116 Nguyen Du Street, Ben Thanh Ward), the opening film screening of the 24th Vietnam Film Festival will take place. The work selected for the opening screening is the film Red Rain (directed by Dang Thai Huyen).
The opening ceremony of the 24th Vietnam Film Festival will take place at 8 p.m. in the Thong Nhat Hall, with the expected participation of about 5,500 delegates and guests. Before that, from 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., the organizing committee will also hold a red carpet event, with the expected participation of about 1,200 artists and actors from all over the provinces.
In particular, at the opening ceremony of the Film Festival, Ho Chi Minh City also held a ceremony to receive the UNESCO recognition certificate "Ho Chi Minh City - Global Creative City of Cinema".
The opening night of the festival also promises to bring a special art party with the participation of many famous artists: Meritorious Artist Cao Minh, singer Tran Thu Ha, Hoang Bach, Duc Phuc, Trong Hieu, Hoang Dung, Anh Tu, Orange, Nguyen Hung, Han Sara, Lamoon... In particular, the cast of the films Red Rain, Death Battle in the Sky, Tunnel: Sun in the Dark also appeared on stage.
On November 21, free film screenings within the framework of the Film Festival also took place at 3 cinema complexes.
At CGV Hung Vuong Plaza cinema complex (No. 126, Hong Bang Street, Cho Lon Ward), there will be a series of animated films, a series of documentary films and two Vietnamese films: Under the Lake (panorama program, at 9:00) and Red Rain (movie film, at 4:00).
At Cinestar Hai Ba Trung cinema complex (No. 135, Hai Ba Trung Street, Saigon Ward), at 9:00 a.m. the film Murder on the 4th Floor (panoramic feature film) will be shown, at 4:00 p.m. the film Sister- in-law (feature film for the competition) will be shown along with a series of animated films and documentaries for the competition, including the documentary Brilliant Horizon .
At Galaxy Parc Mall cinema complex (4th floor, Parc Mall shopping center, 547 - 549 Ta Quang Buu street, Chanh Hung ward), the films The Four Guardians (feature film, at 9am), Claws (panoramic feature film, at 4pm), and Cricket: Adventure to the Swamp Village (animated film, at 9am) will be shown. In addition, there will be documentaries shown in 2 time slots, 4pm and 6pm.
