The concert opened with the dramatic and poignant atmosphere of Franz Liszt's Funérailles (Funeral Service), with its intense and powerful notes. The melodies expressed sadness and longing. Artist Luu Hong Quang received enthusiastic applause from the audience after his performance. Following this was the peaceful, gentle, and poetic world of Robert Schumann – one of the most renowned Romantic composers of the 19th century – with works such as: Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood) , Hasche-Mann ( Blindfolded Catch the Goat ), Bittendes Kind ( The Begging Child) , Ritter vom Steckenpferd ( A Knight with a Horse ), Kind mEin schlummer ( A Sleeping Child )... Stepping onto the stage, Luu Hong Quang showcased his technique with the gentle, profound yet cheerful and lively melodies of a dreamy world. The audience felt as if they were reliving their childhood journey, the innocence and naivety, and a belief in a bright future. The concert concluded with a masterpiece of the Romantic musical style, with Luu Hong Quang showcasing his masterful technique and emotional depth, from the majestic and intense to the joyful and triumphant, of Johannes Brahms' Piano Sonata in F minor, Op. 5… Not only did Luu Hong Quang transport the audience back to the classical music of the Romantic era, but he also aimed to convey a story of striving towards noble ideals. The emotional thread running through the three main parts was a journey from darkness to light, a gift Luu Hong Quang offered to the Hanoi audience at this time. After the performance, the audience's applause lasted for more than two minutes, a warm expression of appreciation for the artist. In response, Luu Hong Quang presented the audience with Liszt's * The Pilgrimage Years *. Ms. Minh Ha ( Hanoi ) shared: "This was a valuable performance; the musical pieces were classics. Ms. Mai Anh Thu expressed: "After a period of studying in New Zealand, Luu Hong Quang's return this time represents a significant artistic change that his fans and admirers can feel." Sharing with Dan Tri reporters, artist Luu Hong Quang said: "A few months ago, I wasn't in the country, but I knew that Vietnam had just gone through countless losses and sorrows. As an artist, I don't know if I can contribute anything significant. However, through music, a language that can touch everyone's heart, and also coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi, I hope that the spirit of the audience will be inspired by tonight's solo performance. As the message of the final piece in the program suggests, it is about triumph over all challenges. With such a spirit, I hope we can build together and believe in the good things that lie ahead." Artist Luu Hong Quang further shared: "I performed these works in Wellington (New Zealand). When performing there, I had a new experience, a new audience, new emotions in a new land, which was also special. Returning to Vietnam, performing the same pieces, but with a different inspiration. During the preparation in Vietnam, the images of banners, slogans, and the red flag with a yellow star during the days leading up to the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi inspired me even more. It was patriotism, pride, and triumph, very different from performing abroad." Pianist Luu Hong Quang with his family (Photo: Anh Duong).
