(Dan Tri) - A photo accidentally taken by a tourist revealed the truth that the famous rock in the scenic area in Shenzhen city is actually a fake rock made of reinforced concrete.
"The highest peak of Pengcheng turned out to be a fake. The rock was hollow and was being stuffed with bricks. I was shocked because I felt like I had been deceived for a long time," a post shared on Weibo said.
Along with that, the account owner shared a photo taken at the rock while it was being repaired. If observed with the naked eye, it is easy to recognize that this is an artificial rock made of reinforced concrete.
According to research, this is a famous rock located in the scenic area of Wutong Mountain in Shenzhen City, China. For a long time, this has been one of the check-in destinations of millions of tourists.
The post immediately received a lot of interaction with mixed responses. Most Chinese social media users expressed disappointment because they still thought this was a natural rock.
"When I heard this news, I was shocked because I had long thought this was a real rock. The last time I visited here, I tried to climb to the top just to take a picture with this rock. I didn't expect it to be fake and hollow inside," a comment shared on Weibo.
In the face of much controversy on social media, on October 30, a representative of the Ngo Dong mountain scenic area confirmed that this famous rock was actually man-made in 2004.
"The rock known as the highest peak of Pengcheng is a completely man-made product. The construction unit used coal and steel to shape it and bricks to build the pillars inside. On the outside, workers plastered it with cement to simulate the natural rock," said the representative.
It is understood that the entire construction process is expected to be completed by November 28. During the renovation period, visitors are prohibited from entering the construction area.
After this information, many Chinese tourists expressed disappointment with the reason "until now, I have only taken pictures with fake goods".
It is known that this is not the first time famous tourist attractions in China have been exposed for using artificial products that make visitors mistake them for natural products.
Previously in June 2024, a video taken by a tourist's drone from above accidentally revealed the secret of China's tallest waterfall having a water supply pipe and not being entirely natural.
This is a photo taken at the Yuntai Waterfall in Yuntai Mountain Park, a famous scenic area in Henan Province, China. The park is ranked 5A by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the highest level in the criteria for evaluating scenic areas.
With a height of 314m, Van Dai waterfall is currently the highest waterfall in the country of billion people. Every year, this area welcomes millions of tourists to visit and admire.
According to the description of the scenic spot, the water from the waterfall pouring down from above is likened to a flying galaxy. However, the video recorded by a tourist's drone revealed the truth.
The recorded images show that there is a water supply pipe at the top of the waterfall. It is a network of water pipes hidden behind the rock layer. Thus, the water flowing from the waterfall has human intervention and does not come entirely from nature as tourists have long believed.
In order to calm public anger, a representative of the Van Dai Mountain Park management board immediately spoke out. This person said that during the dry season, the waterfall's water source is not guaranteed, so the management board must have outside intervention to maintain its perfect beauty in the eyes of visitors.
However, this response did not satisfy Chinese tourists. Many expressed disappointment because they felt deceived.
