Apple to launch Apple Watch with integrated camera

Apple is said to have a major upgrade on the Apple Watch smartwatch model by integrating a camera.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is quietly developing new generation Apple Watch models with integrated cameras, expected to launch in 2027.

The camera system on Apple Watch is used to serve AI features.

The camera system will likely be equipped by Apple inside the screen area of the Apple Watch. According to Bloomberg , on the future version of the Apple Watch Ultra, the camera will be placed on the right side, near the Digital Crown button.

However, the camera system will not be intended to support FaceTime video calls as many people expect. Instead, Apple wants to apply it to develop Visual Intelligence features for the Apple Watch.

Visual Intelligence will allow Apple Watch users to quickly recognize and collect information about their surroundings by pointing the watch at an object or location. For example, users can know the opening hours and reviews of a restaurant just by pointing the Apple Watch at it.

Previously, Visual Intelligence was introduced by Apple on the iPhone 16 product line and will be updated for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max duo in the upcoming iOS 18.4 version.

Additionally, Apple is also said to be integrating small cameras into some future AirPods models. This will allow the company to equip both the Apple Watch and AirPods with more AI features.
