Traveling in low season, tourists have many advantages such as not having to jostle, lower costs and having many new experiences.
In Vietnam, summer is considered the peak tourist season with many activities and festivals, the low season depends on the weather and region, usually falls at the end of the year, from November to before Tet.
The end of the year is a busy time for many people. In the central region, this is the rainy season, with bad weather. Tourists during this period are mainly international visitors. However, many people still choose to travel during the low season because of some advantages, according to advice from Mr. Viet Hung, Director of a travel company in Ho Chi Minh City.
Low cost
Airfares and hotel rooms are cheap during the low season because supply exceeds demand. Round-trip airfares on Vietnam Airlines to Quy Nhon during the peak summer season range from 5-6 million VND, but during the low season in November or December, the price is around 2-2.5 million VND.
Hotel room prices are similar. A resort in the Da Nang - Hoi An area costs VND5 million per night in the summer, and is always fully booked. Currently, the price is around VND3.5 million. In the low season, visitors can choose a sea view room for the same price. Lower-end hotel chains currently have prices under VND500,000 at the end of the year, and prices in other periods range from VND700,000 to VND1 million per night, with additional charges depending on the time. In addition, promotional programs are also focused on the low season.
Not crowded

Low season means fewer tourists. Visitors do not have to crowd beaches, tourist attractions, wait for ferries, it is not difficult to take photos without people, and the quality of service is also higher.
In the summer, it takes 3-4 hours for tourists to cross the ferry at Cat Ba Island, Hai Phong, in November, the ferry crossing time around noon on Saturday is only about 15 minutes. The return time on Sunday afternoon is longer, about an hour. In Cat Ba, the beaches of Cat Co 1 and Cat Co 2 are almost empty, while the weather is suitable for swimming.
Similarly, wandering around Hoi An ancient town at the end of the year, tourists do not have to jostle with the crowd, worry about taking photos of other people or wait their turn to release sky lanterns along the Hoai River. Tourists are mainly foreigners traveling individually or in small groups, without making noise.
Find new experiences
Off-season travel is suitable for those who want to live slowly. Visitors can sit and watch the long coastline in the Central region, or hide in a seaside cafe, drink a hot cup of tea, read a book, and enjoy the cool feeling of the sea and the fresh air.
However, the low season of tourism means bad weather and travel experiences. Tourists need to be mentally prepared for some undesirable experiences. Check the weather before traveling or choose the time that suits you. In addition, you need to be mentally prepared to avoid disappointment if things do not go as expected.
