Bac Giang: Jubilant opening of festival to celebrate the 598th anniversary of the Xuong Giang Victory

On the morning of February 3 (January 6), at Xuong Giang Temple in the Special National Relic Site of Xuong Giang Victory, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Giang City held the opening ceremony to celebrate the 598th anniversary of the Xuong Giang Victory.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Van Gau - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Thi Huong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Viet Oanh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; Standing members of the Provincial People's Council, People's Committee, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and leaders of provincial departments, branches, sectors, unions and a large number of local people.

Here, the provincial leaders, Bac Giang city leaders and people from all walks of life respectfully offered incense to commemorate the heroic Lam Son soldiers who fought steadfastly and sacrificed heroically in the war against the invading Ming invaders. Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Gau and Bac Giang City Party Secretary Vu Tri Hai performed the gong and drum ceremony to open the festival. Immediately after, processions from the Buddhist Sangha, schools and wards and communes in the city entered the temple to offer incense.

Before that, from 6 am, 16 groups, each group consisting of about 100 people representing wards, communes, units, and schools in the city participated in the procession from Thanh village communal house to the special national relic site of Xuong Giang Victory Site to attend the festival. The groups in colorful traditional costumes entered Xuong Giang temple with majestic beauty, bearing historical echoes, recalling the heroic victory of the past.

From now until the end of the festival (the 7th of January), there will be many attractive activities such as Quan Ho, Ca Tru, and Cheo performances; photo exhibitions, organizing cultural spaces for rural markets, folk games, and sports .

It is known that the Xuong Giang Festival is held annually on a city scale to show respect and gratitude to the talented people, heroes and people who fought heroically and sacrificed on this heroic historical land.

With its great historical values, the Xuong Giang Victory Site, Bac Giang City was recognized as a National Historical Relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2009 and recognized as a Special National Historical Relic by the Prime Minister in 2019.

Notably, on November 10, 2023, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 3443 on including the Xuong Giang Festival in Bac Giang City in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. This is the first festival in Bac Giang City to be honored./.
