According to the report at the conference, in 2024, there will be about 19 cold air waves and intensified cold air, causing 05 widespread cold spells; 10 storms and 01 tropical depression will appear in the East Sea, including storm No. 2 and storm No. 3 affecting Bac Kan province.

Property and human damage caused by natural disasters in 2024 is estimated: 15 human losses (07 dead, 08 injured). Housing damage: 5,228 houses affected, damaged.Education damage: 11 classrooms, 43 schools damaged. Medical damage: 03 medical facilities affected. Irrigation damage: 117 irrigation works eroded, damaged; 557m of river and stream embankments eroded; 879m of canals eroded, damaged. Traffic damage is more than 1,098,000m3 of landslides (of which National Highway 454,815m3, Provincial Road 357,884m3, Rural Traffic 190,970m3). Industrial damage: 397 electric poles broken, fallen; 25 transformer stations were damaged; 1,325 machines and equipment were damaged; 13 agency headquarters were affected... Estimated damage to crops and property caused by natural disasters is about 1,679.36 billion VND.

At the conference, after the Provincial Military Command approved the draft plan for coordination of disaster prevention and control and search and rescue in 2025, delegates focused on discussing and clarifying some remaining difficulties, problems and shortcomings in the process of organizing and implementing disaster prevention and control and search and rescue tasks in 2024, such as: There is still a situation of not fully implementing the instructions and recommendations of competent agencies and local authorities in preventing and responding to storms, leading to property damage and confusion when unexpected situations occur.

Some vehicles and equipment serving disaster response and rescue work have not been regularly operated and maintained, so when they are needed, they are damaged and have not been effective. The work of reporting and calculating damage in some localities is still slow...
