VFF Disciplinary Board met on March 11, decided to give a severe penalty to Tang Tien

On March 9, a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said: “We have received a document from the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company - VPF, requesting the board to severely punish player Nguyen Tang Tien of the Quang Nam team, for his violent tackle on striker Pham Tuan Hai of the Hanoi team, in the match of round 13 of the V-League 2023 - 2024 on March 8 at Hang Day Stadium. VPF has also provided complete documents, including reports from the match supervisor, referee supervisor, video tape... We will soon meet and issue a highly deterrent sentence.” The Disciplinary Board is expected to meet on March 11 to make a decision.

Tang Tien makes it difficult for the Vietnamese team

Immediately after the match on the evening of March 8, Tuan Hai was taken to the emergency room and fortunately, he did not suffer any bone damage. However, when examining Tuan Hai on March 9, the doctor concluded that the player born in 1998 had an injury to his right ankle and needed to rest for at least a month before returning to rehabilitation and competition.

This means that Hai will be absent from the National Cup on March 12 against Ha Tinh team at Hang Day Stadium and especially the two matches of the Vietnamese team in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup - against Indonesia team away on March 21, at home at My Dinh Stadium on March 26.

A VFF official worried: "This is a huge loss for the Vietnamese team."

As for Tang Tien, in addition to the red card he received during the match, this central defender faces a very heavy penalty. He could be fined from 15 to 20 million VND, and suspended for 4 more matches. Article 39 on physical abuse, under the Supplementary Disciplinary Regulations issued by the VFF in 2023, clearly states: anyone who uses force, commits a serious foul or intentionally violates another person's body will be fined from 15 million to 30 million VND and suspended from playing, from 2 to 5 matches.

6 years ago, when he was still playing for HAGL, Tang Tien was suspended for 5 matches due to violent behavior towards Duy Manh ( Hanoi FC).
