According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in South America, El Pueblo newspaper stated that in an interview, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that Vietnam has steadily overcome many difficulties and challenges, continuing to achieve great results in many fields. According to El Pueblo, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the economy continues to be a bright spot for Vietnam, the macro economy is basically stable. In addition, the issues of inflation, public debt, and state budget deficit are under control, while major balances of the economy are ensured. In addition, the improvement of the organizational apparatus and administrative reform have ensured publicity and transparency. The quality, efficiency of operations and coordination between agencies and functional units in preventing and combating corruption and negativity have been improved. Assessing Vietnam's foreign affairs in 2023, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that foreign affairs activities are an impressive and outstanding highlight. Successes were recorded in state visits, official visits, phone calls, and online talks by leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam, especially more than 40 visits by key leaders to neighboring countries, major countries, countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), many important strategic partners and traditional friends, as well as visits to Vietnam by senior leaders of important countries. El Pueblo quoted General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as saying that the Communist Party of Vietnam currently has relations with 253 parties in 115 countries around the world. Regarding state diplomatic relations, Vietnam "has expanded and deepened relations" with 193 countries, including 3 countries with special relations, 6 countries with comprehensive strategic partnerships, 12 strategic partners and 12 comprehensive partners; at the same time, it has become an active and responsible member of most regional and international organizations and forums. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that in the future, Vietnam needs to promote national digital transformation, develop the digital economy and digital society, as well as the green and circular economy, associated with strengthening resource management and environmental protection. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also requested more attention to the task of developing culture and society in harmony and on par with economic development; ensuring social security and welfare; improving people's material and spiritual life.
