Schools in the city have synchronously deployed many solutions to ensure food safety in boarding meals to protect the health and support the comprehensive development of students.

In Thanh Khe ward, Mr. Le Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of the ward People's Committee, said that the whole ward currently has more than 27,000 students with 36 boarding schools, including 14 primary schools, 9 public kindergartens and 13 private schools.

Realizing the importance of boarding meals for children's health and development, right from the beginning of the school year, the Ward People's Committee directed the Department of Culture and Society to coordinate with schools to issue documents guiding the implementation of school year tasks, emphasizing the requirement to ensure food safety in preschool nutrition and boarding organization at primary level.

The Ward People's Committee also requires schools to develop specific implementation plans, suitable to actual conditions, and at the same time assign responsibility to the head in ensuring food safety, and clearly regulate boarding school revenue and expenditure.

In Lien Chieu ward, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lich, Vice Chairman of the ward People's Committee, said that schools always focus on organizing boarding meals to ensure absolute food hygiene and safety.

The menu is scientifically designed, combining many types of food to provide enough 4 groups of nutrients: starch, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals. When receiving food, the school carefully checks the quantity, quality, freshness and clear origin, and firmly refuses if it does not meet the requirements.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, Principal of Vanh Khuyen Kindergarten, the school strictly follows the process of processing and storing food samples every day to ensure safety.

All food is contracted with a licensed business unit, certified to meet food hygiene and safety conditions, and only receives fresh ingredients, with quarantine and full documentation. In addition, the kitchen is arranged according to the one-way principle, processing tools are cleaned regularly, arranged neatly and dry. All catering staff are trained and have regular health check-ups, strictly complying with personal hygiene regulations.

Not only in the inner city, mountainous areas also pay special attention to the quality of boarding meals.

In Tien Phuoc commune, the whole commune has 12 schools with 167 classes, more than 5,000 students. This school year, 100% of kindergartens continue to maintain boarding for 960 children; at the primary level, Kim Dong and Tran Huynh Primary Schools organize boarding for nearly 1,000 students.

Ms. Le Thi Thao, Vice Chairwoman of Tien Phuoc Commune People's Committee, said that at the beginning of the school year, the commune organized a training course on food safety for managers, teachers, medical staff and catering staff. Thereby, the staff were updated with knowledge, identified hazards in food preservation and processing, and learned how to choose reputable suppliers and handle situations when incidents occurred.

In Nui Thanh commune, Mr. Hoang Chau Son, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said that the whole commune has 21 schools (18 public schools, 3 private schools), of which 14 are boarding schools, with 6,966 students participating in boarding.

Schools are fully aware of the task of ensuring food hygiene and safety in boarding meals, from selecting fresh and clean food to supervising the processing and preservation process. Ensuring food safety in schools has become a key task, requiring the joint efforts of the education sector, local authorities and the whole society, towards building a safe and healthy school environment.
