No more scenes of Thanh Hoa border students walking more than 1km to the stream to bathe and wash clothes

TPO - Faced with the situation of schools in the Thanh Hoa border area lacking water for daily use after floods due to damaged pipeline systems, local authorities have fixed the problem, helping teachers and students have water for daily use, no longer having to go to the stream to bathe and wash.

On November 10, the leader of Muong Lat Ethnic Boarding Secondary School (Muong Lat commune, Thanh Hoa province) said that after a period of time when the school's students had to go to the stream to bathe and wash clothes due to lack of water after the flood, the problem has now been completely resolved.

"The local government has repaired the section of the drainage ditch that collapsed due to previous storms. Now the water has returned and is being brought back to the school, so students no longer have to go to the stream to bathe like before," the school leader informed.

Lacking water for daily use, students in border areas have to go to streams to bathe and wash clothes.

In the past October, hundreds of students at Muong Lat Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities faced a serious shortage of water for daily activities. The cause was the recent storm that caused a long section of the canal to collapse, paralyzing the entire water supply system to the school.

To ensure the safety and hygiene of students, every afternoon, teachers have to take hundreds of students to the Poong stream area (about 1km from the school) to bathe and wash clothes. This causes a lot of inconvenience for students and teachers, especially when winter is approaching. In addition, there is a potential safety risk.

Faced with this situation, the school has rented a well drill and bought pipes to bring water to the school, but due to unfavorable terrain, these solutions still do not provide enough water for daily use.

The water canal leading to the school has been repaired, but teachers are still worried about a long-term water shortage.

According to Mr. Trinh Van Cuong, Principal of Muong Lat Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, although water from the canal has returned, the school will continue to drill more wells (a third well) to ensure a stable long-term water source.
