Ho Chi Minh City leads the 2025 National High School Sports Tournament

The 2025 National High School Sports Tournament took place from June 8 to June 16 in Hue City, with the participation of 53 Departments of Education and Training with 2,267 students competing in 5 sports including: Football, basketball, swimming, athletics and Vovinam.

Ho Chi Minh City delegation achieved the highest result with 147 medals, including: 67 Gold medals, 41 Silver medals, 39 Bronze medals.

In swimming alone, Ho Chi Minh City won first place overall with 86 medals, including: 38 gold medals, 26 silver medals, and 22 bronze medals. Athletics also won first place overall, with 32 medals, including: 7 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals.

At the ceremony, 331 individuals with high achievements received certificates of merit from the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Speaking at the commendation and award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that today's achievements are the result of many months of training, efforts and passion of students, teachers and coaches, in addition to the love and companionship of parents.

“We are proud that during the 10 Phu Dong Sports Festivals, the city has always achieved the overall title. And at the National Sports Festivals, we have always been in the leading group. This is a testament to the close coordination between the Education and Sports sectors, along with the deep concern of the Ho Chi Minh City leadership in developing the school sports movement,” Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu emphasized.

On the same day, the People's Committee of Binh Loi commune, Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to commend and reward teacher Nguyen Tu Cuong (born in 1999), athlete of the national Vovinam team, teacher of Binh Chanh High School for Gifted Sports, who just won a Gold medal at the 8th Vovinam World Championship - 2025, held in Bali (Indonesia).

Teacher Nguyen Tu Cuong has an impressive record of achievements in his sports career: Gold Medal at the National Championship for many years, Silver Medal at the 32nd SEA Games, Gold Medal at the 2023 World Vovinam Championship, Gold Medal at the 2024 Asian Vovinam Championship. The elite athlete also received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister in 2024.
