Vietnam U23 has qualified for the semi-finals of the Southeast Asian U23 tournament after winning both matches against Laos U23 and Cambodia U23. In the upcoming round, Vietnam U23 will face the second-placed team with the best record, the Philippines U23.

Although according to experts, the performance of U23 Vietnam was not really convincing, the Korean press still praised coach Kim Sang Sik. They even said that coach Kim is about to do what coach Park Hang Seo has not been able to do.

Coach Kim Sang Sik has shown excellent leadership throughout the tournament. Local media have praised him for bringing creativity and competitiveness to Vietnamese football, based on his tactical organisational strength.
On July 25, U23 Vietnam will meet U23 Philippines in the semi-finals. They are aiming for their third consecutive championship in this tournament, after winning the championship in 2022 and 2023. U23 Vietnam is also the most successful team in the Southeast Asian U23 tournament.

The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Philippines will take place at 4pm on July 25. At 8pm on the same day, U23 Indonesia will face U23 Thailand.
