International tourists are showing a significant interest in Southeast Asia, The Times reported. And that's not surprising.

"Vietnam is rich in culture with many interesting things to explore . Trips to pristine beaches, exploring huge historical treasures, beautiful natural landscapes will help visitors feast their eyes on remote villages and beautiful architecture," wrote author Hannah Summers.

The Times says there are many ways to explore this Southeast Asian "paradise". River cruises, luxury resorts and high-end boutiques all promise to offer visitors unique experiences.

“The first time I visited as a backpacker at the age of 19, travelling with a backpack larger than my body and a small budget, my companion and I decided to travel around Vietnam by motorbike. Of course, the guide went first, we followed, moving through the winding countryside through rice paddies and along sunny roads,” Hannah Summers recalls.

The author noted having visited most destinations in Vietnam.

"One of my favorite stops is the charming riverside old town of Hoi An, where you can walk into any of the small family-run tailor shops and have one of your favorite suits or dresses tailored in a fun or casual style," the author writes of her delightful experience in Hoi An, Vietnam.

And Vietnamese food is also very attractive. According to the author, with delicious bowls of pho, you can eat it outside of every meal and never feel like you have eaten too much.

"I'm planning another adventure in Vietnam, enjoying the cuisine in the capital Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Whatever your craving is - traveling alone, with family or friends, big or small budget, Vietnam is a destination worth visiting," the author wrote.

Here are some suggestions for experiences in Vietnam by author Hannah Summers on The Times page:

Railway journey from Ho Chi Minh City to the capital Hanoi

The 18-day Reunification Train journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi is a worthwhile experience. Traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to the capital city of Hanoi, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the history of the route, which was rebuilt after the reunification of the North and South in 1975 and became a symbol of national unity.

This is a slow and steady journey on comfortable seats and air-conditioned carriages. Passengers will comfortably explore the journey through rice fields, jungles, mountains and coastlines.

Experience the natural landscape of the North

Get off the tourist trail and fully explore the beauty of northern Vietnam, with InsideAsia's tour taking you deep into the remote rural areas of the north, home to ethnic minority groups.

"Travelers will start in the capital Hanoi with a food tour, before heading north to explore authentic villages, rice terraces, tea plantations and mountains, spanning four days of adventure. Between trips, there will be car trips. One of the most attractive destinations is Ma Pi Leng Pass in Meo Vac District, Ha Giang Province, Vietnam. The route winds through a valley, stretching out into the distance are beautiful golden rice fields," the author writes.

Cruise on the Mekong River

Vietnam is a leading country in river tourism thanks to the Mekong River - the longest waterway in Southeast Asia.

"Boat aboard the 20-suite Aqua Mekong for a seven-night expedition in style, with the chance to soak up local life from the sundeck. But best of all, says Hannah Summers, is to make the most of the bike hire trips to riverside villages, where expert guides will provide a wealth of knowledge. Then, head back to the ship for a Michelin-starred menu."

Quiet natural bay

If you want to immerse yourself in lush greenery, try the 12-night nature-themed tour.

"You'll see the terraced rice fields of Pu Luong, the jungle and primates of Cuc Phuong, or the limestone peaks and emerald waters of Lan Ha Bay - a much quieter alternative to Ha Long Bay," the author writes.

The final nights are spent relaxing in a traditional homestay in the Mekong Delta, cycling through farmland and gliding along canals on a sampan, enjoying the laid-back life.

Hiking and local homestays

Ideal as an adventure add-on to any other tour, this 6-day trip to the northern mountains offers hiking and homestay opportunities.

"You will travel to a remote area between the Tay Con Linh and Song Chay mountain ranges in Ha Giang province, taking challenging treks through rainforests, plantations and rice terraces between villages. A homestay in a Red Dao village will give you an insight into the simplicity of daily life in a very remote part of the world," writes author Hannah Summers.

Variety of street food

The Mekong Delta - known as the rice granary of Vietnam - will give visitors the opportunity to buy and sell fresh produce and enjoy familiar street foods such as pho, banh mi and traditional seafood hotpot dishes in many different cities.

It's not just about eating - there are also sightseeing tours (on Vespas), trips to local markets and homestays that also offer a glimpse into local life in Vietnam./.
