Watching the clip of a female student at Thai Van Lung Secondary School, Tam Phu Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City being beaten by a group on April 11, many people exclaimed: "Why let children fall into this situation?".
The above question is a challenge not only for the education sector but also for the whole society, as school violence is increasing.
Among them, the children were of school age but brutally tortured their friends to the point of injury and had to be hospitalized for treatment.
How to limit the above situation? Tuoi Tre Newspaper in collaboration with Nguyen Du Secondary School, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City; Phuong Nam Education Investment and Development Joint Stock Company organized the program "Preventing school violence - Building a safe and friendly learning environment".
The program took place on the morning of April 14, 2025 at Nguyen Du Secondary School with the participation of teachers, parents and students.
Guests of the program include:
- Dr. To Nhi A - lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, applied psychology expert.
- MSc. Nguyen Hai Uyen - psychological consultant, University of Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University.
- Expert Dao Le Tam An - PhD student in psychology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
At the program, psychologists will interact and guide students on how to respond to prevent school violence.
"In fact, many cases of school violence have left unfortunate consequences, causing serious physical and mental damage to students. However, the cause of it is sometimes just small conflicts between students, or careless bad words about their friends.
Therefore, the program not only directly guides students, but also provides useful advice to parents and teachers in the process of accompanying children, with the deeper goal of building a safe and friendly learning environment.
There, there is no school violence. There, if there is a conflict between students, the students themselves or the adults around them will promptly support them to resolve that conflict" - journalist Ha Thach Han, deputy editor-in-chief of Tuoi Tre newspaper, shared.
The program "Preventing school violence - Building a safe and friendly learning environment" is part of the series of activities "Joining hands to prevent school violence" implemented by Tuoi Tre newspaper and Phuong Nam Education Investment and Development Joint Stock Company.

On this occasion, the program's organizers will also introduce the book series Skills to Respond to School Violence . The book series is produced by Tuoi Tre Newspaper in collaboration with Phuong Nam Education Investment and Development Joint Stock Company and published by Education Publishing House.
According to journalist Ha Thach Han - deputy general secretary of Tuoi Tre newspaper, one of the two editors, the book series is not only for students but also a reference document for parents and teachers in the process of accompanying and supporting their students.
"We want to provide readers with solutions, that is, what should you do in each real-life situation to avoid becoming a victim of school violence?" - journalist Ha Thach Han shared.
Therefore, the first 4-5 pages of the two books are devoted to clarifying the behaviors considered school violence, the effects of school violence, and the things students need to practice every day (such as suggestions for dealing with school violence using the alphabet; a list of trusted contacts; getting used to expressing emotions and needs, etc.). The rest of the book is devoted to real-life situations.
