In the context of digital transformation taking place strongly around the world, copyright protection is both a legal obligation and plays a key role in ensuring the sustainable development of Vietnam's cultural industry. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with agencies, units and enterprises, organized a signing ceremony for cooperation in developing Vietnam's digital culture for the period 2025-2027.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong; leaders of specialized departments and offices, and representatives of many large domestic and international technology and media enterprises.

Copyright protection is one of the key areas reflected in 18 strategic cooperation agreements. The series of agreements demonstrates the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector's ability to seize the opportunities of the digital age. This is also a strong commitment from businesses and the creative community to protect intellectual values and copyright - the foundation of all cultural creations.

The units also signed an agreement to promote Vietnamese culture and tourism on digital platforms.

At the event, the field of Copyright and Related Rights chaired by the Copyright Office (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) focused on developing technology infrastructure and management mechanisms, collecting copyright fees and services in the copyright industry.

In the digital space, every cultural product can be copied, edited and spread in just a few seconds. The convenience also creates challenges to protect the real value, real effort and real ownership of the creator.

According to the Director of the Copyright Office, Tran Hoang, the enforcement of intellectual property rights does not stop at handling violations, but more importantly, it is necessary to create a fair creative environment so that all ideas and works are respected and compensated fairly. Only then can the cultural industry make a sustainable breakthrough.

In reality, copyright infringement in the fields of art, television, music and publishing is still complicated. Many works are copied and illegally exploited on cyberspace, causing great losses to creators and production businesses. Therefore, the application of modern digital technology such as AI, Blockchain, data encryption... in the management, monitoring and protection of copyright is considered one of the breakthrough solutions.

These technologies enable traceability, automatic copyright recognition, early detection of infringement, and contribute to establishing a transparent and effective rights management system.

In addition to the technical aspect, the signing of the cooperation agreement also lays the foundation for a comprehensive cooperation ecosystem between management agencies, businesses and creators. According to the plan, the parties will coordinate to build a multi-language, multi-platform communication channel system to promote Vietnamese culture and tourism to the world, realizing the National Tourism Marketing Strategy until 2030.

In addition, large technology companies will provide technical platforms and priority distribution infrastructure for authors, artists, and production units, helping them bring creative products closer to the public in a more professional and better protected way.

Also within the framework of cooperation, many new activities were launched, such as developing and promoting e-sports, bringing Vietnamese games and young creative communities into the global cultural industry.

The fact that Audition was chosen as an official competition at the 33rd SEA Games can be seen as a positive signal, affirming the new vitality of Vietnam's digital creative industry.

One of the highlights of the signing ceremony is the combination of the State’s legal protection mechanism with the enterprise’s production, distribution and multi-platform promotion capacity. This combination aims to prevent copyright infringement, towards building a transparent and healthy cultural business environment, promoting fairness between creativity and commercialization.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong said: "Copyright is an element of the cultural industry. There can be no sustainable development if we cannot protect creative values. The State encourages innovation and creativity, but at the same time requires strict compliance with intellectual property laws. This is a prerequisite to bring Vietnamese culture to the world."

Along with that, digital human resource training is also given top priority. Cooperation programs in the period 2025-2027 will deploy in-depth courses on AI, administration, finance, digital content production, and international certification, aiming to improve the capacity of human resources in the culture and media industry.

In recent years, Vietnam has made great efforts to improve its legal system on intellectual property. The Intellectual Property Law has been amended and supplemented in accordance with international commitments, while increasing deterrence and raising public awareness of copyright. However, copyright protection cannot be based solely on the law but must be nurtured by a culture of respect for creativity. Only when society understands that each work is the crystallization of intelligence and dedication, will infringement gradually be eliminated.

According to experts, digital transformation is opening up strategic opportunities to bring Vietnamese culture, sports and tourism to the international level. From virtual exhibitions, online museums, Vietnamese films released on global platforms, to tourism promotion campaigns using virtual reality (VR) technology... all show the great potential of Vietnamese culture in the digital space.

However, opportunities always come with challenges. When geographical boundaries are blurred, Vietnamese cultural products must compete directly with products from other countries. At that time, only identity, quality and copyright transparency can help us stand firm.

In the 2025-2027 period, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism identified digital culture development as a key task, closely linked to the cultural industry development strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The signed cooperation programs will be materialized into projects, actions, and practical products, from building a copyright protection platform using technology to creating a national database on copyright, supporting artists to distribute their works through legal channels. These are practical steps on the journey to build an advanced digital culture imbued with national identity.
