According to the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ), in October, international visitors to our country reached 1.73 million arrivals, an increase of 13.8% over the previous month and an increase of 22.1% over the same period in 2024. In the first 10 months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached nearly 17.2 million arrivals, an increase of 21.5% over the same period in 2024.
In 2025, Vietnam's tourism industry aims to welcome 22-23 million international visitors, based on the growth momentum to nearly equal the pre-pandemic level of 2024 (welcoming 17.6 million visitors). Previously, in August, the Government issued Resolution No. 226/NQ-CP on growth targets for industries, sectors, localities and key tasks and solutions to ensure the country's growth in 2025 reaches 8.3-8.5%. For the tourism industry, the Government assigned the target of striving to reach at least 25 million international visitors for the whole year.
According to tourism experts, with this growth momentum, 2025 will be the year when the Vietnamese tourism industry sets a new record in the number of visitors, surpassing the 18 million arrivals of the golden year 2019. However, achieving this year's target is a "big challenge" because to achieve the target of 22-23 million, the industry needs to welcome an additional 4.7-5.7 million visitors in the two months of November and December, which means that on average, Vietnam needs to welcome 2.35-2.85 million arrivals per month.
Statistics show that the number of visitors in October, 1.73 million, is a record high. However, experts warn that to meet the overall growth target for the whole year, the sudden growth of more than 2.8 million visitors/month in two consecutive months as estimated above is an unprecedented increase and could put great pressure on tourism infrastructure and human resources.
