Youth Union members of Hac Thanh ward participate in cleaning up to protect the environment on World Environment Day 2025.
Closely following the requirements of strengthening the Party's leadership in environmental protection work, local Party committees and authorities in the province have implemented many solutions such as: issuing resolutions; stepping up propaganda; organizing emulation movements; building environmental protection models... For example, the model of "Skilled mass mobilization" to build bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe residential areas; the model of "Self-managed environmental protection team", "Pesticide-free fields", "Second journey of tires and plastic bottles", "Exchanging trash for trees"; the model of "Clean house - clean garden"... These models not only contribute to reducing environmental pollution but also unite the community, building a civilized and modern lifestyle.
Along with that, to put environmental protection activities into order, the province and relevant agencies pay special attention to the collection and treatment of waste; inspect and handle violations in the environmental field. Strictly implement the process of appraising environmental impact assessment reports for investment projects, production and business establishments with the viewpoint of not trading the environment for economic growth. This viewpoint also encourages people to pay attention to building economic development models that reduce pressure on environmental pollution and are environmentally friendly. In addition, in response to the annual World Environment Day, the Provincial People's Committee has issued an action plan with many important contents and tasks assigned to sectors, units and localities to implement such as: organizing propaganda and education activities, raising awareness for all levels, departments, branches, organizations and people of all walks of life about the importance of environmental protection.
For example, in response to World Environment Day and the 2025 Environmental Action Month with the theme "Fighting plastic pollution", the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD) coordinated with local authorities to organize a training course on classifying and reducing plastic waste, composting biodegradable waste into fertilizer, and reducing waste that needs to be treated for 200 households in Hoang Cat commune, now Hoang Son commune. At the training course, representatives of the Department of Environment, DARD informed a large number of officials and people about the current situation of household waste generation, waste collection and treatment activities in the province; the impact of plastic waste on the environment and daily life. At the same time, knowledge about environmental protection, daily household waste treatment and instructions for people on the process of collecting, classifying and treating waste at households; Fermentation techniques to treat household waste into organic fertilizer for agricultural production... According to Deputy Head of the Department of Environment Nguyen Thi Thuy, this is useful information that contributes to improving knowledge and skills in environmental protection for people towards a green, clean lifestyle, in harmony with nature and preserving the living environment for future generations.
However, in addition to the achieved results, environmental protection activities in the province still have many shortcomings and limitations that need to be overcome soon. One of the limitations that has been identified and pointed out by the authorities is the overload compared to the initial design capacity at some landfills, causing local environmental pollution and affecting people's lives. Meanwhile, the progress of implementing investment projects for domestic waste treatment is slow compared to requirements, especially key projects such as: Dong Nam waste treatment plant; domestic waste incineration plant in Bim Son ward... This has been causing difficulties and affecting the collection and treatment of domestic solid waste in many localities. Meanwhile, many urban areas in the province have not yet invested in wastewater collection and treatment facilities as required; Some livestock farms in the province, especially in mountainous areas, show signs of environmental pollution due to wastewater, exhaust gas, odors... affecting people's lives and activities.
Many causes of the shortcomings and limitations have been identified. Notably, a number of officials and people have not yet turned their awareness into action regarding environmental protection. Unfriendly consumption habits are still common in many places. Many production and business establishments only care about profits and have not paid due attention to environmental protection. Propaganda and dissemination of environmental protection laws at the grassroots level are sometimes not regular, continuous, and are still temporary...
Faced with the unpredictable impacts of climate change and the identified shortcomings and limitations in environmental protection work, the more responsible participation and drastic actions of each organization and individual will be an urgent requirement today. Many tasks and solutions can be done right now to protect the living environment of each citizen and the community such as: doing a good job of classifying and treating organic waste at the place of origin; limiting the use of disposable plastic products and hard-to-decompose nylon bags; planting trees to improve green space; using clean energy and actively participating in community activities to protect the environment... These practical actions will contribute to creating a great strength to protect the green planet, building a sustainable future.
