Arrest of suspect who attacked many people at Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital

At noon on October 23, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Le Thi Hoai Chung - Director of Nghe An Department of Health - gave the above information.

Initial information, according to the accounts of some witnesses provided to the leaders of Nghe An Department of Health that same morning, some relatives of patients in the neonatal department of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital saw a man enter the room.

Then, this person went to the hospital beds, demanded the babies and intended to throw them out the window.

Discovering the incident, some of the patient's family members came to intervene but were attacked by the man with a weapon (unknown type of weapon - PV).

Afterwards, some medical staff were also assaulted by this person.

"At least two people were injured, including a patient's family member who was stabbed in the neck and a female medical worker who was stabbed in the lung and is now out of critical condition," said Ms. Chung.

Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital security forces and police controlled and arrested the suspect.

This suspect's wife just gave birth to twins at Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital.

The police have not released the suspect's identity.

According to Truong Vinh Ward Police, the suspect was initially identified as BVV - 29 years old, from Bac Ninh province, currently residing in Que Phong commune, Nghe An.

At noon on October 23, Mr. Tang Xuan Hai - Director of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital chaired a quick meeting, providing initial information about the incident.

Currently, the hospital's doctors and nurses have promptly provided first aid to the injured victims. The order situation at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has been stabilized, and medical examination and treatment are taking place normally.
