Unexpected number of tourists coming to the Western provinces during the holidays

Kien Giang : According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism , during the 5-day holiday (from April 30 to May 4), the province welcomed nearly 324,000 tourists, an increase of more than 18% compared to last year. Of which, there were over 28,500 international visitors, an increase of more than 19%. Total tourism revenue of the whole province reached 986.4 billion VND, an increase of 67.2%.

The locality that welcomed the most tourists was Phu Quoc City, with over 150,000 visitors, an increase of 19.5% compared to the same period in 2024.

Notably, the number of international visitors to Phu Quoc this time was nearly 27,000, an increase of 20.2% over last year and accounting for more than 90% of the total number of international visitors to Kien Giang province in recent days.

Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, Director of Kien Giang Department of Tourism, said that the state management of tourism in the area in recent days has recorded guaranteed service quality, no price hikes, price gouging, or soliciting of tourists that negatively affect the local tourism image.

In particular, localities and tourism businesses have organized events and entertainment activities to serve tourists, ensuring absolute safety.

Dong Thap : According to the report of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province, at the end of the 5-day holiday, the whole province welcomed more than 112,000 tourists, with estimated revenue of 13.5 billion VND.

Previously, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with functional agencies, departments and branches of the province, along with local tourism companies, to prepare to serve guests during this year's holiday, ensuring healthy and safe days of entertainment, with an estimated room occupancy rate of 65%.

Ca Mau: The total number of visitors and entertainment in the province during the 5-day holiday was 243,087, an increase of 14.52% over the same period last year. Total revenue from tourism activities reached 239.05 billion VND, an increase of 43.66% over the accumulated 5-day holiday in 2024.

To achieve these impressive results, tourism service businesses had previously implemented a good plan to prepare to welcome visitors on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification Day and International Labor Day. According to the assessment of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, the total number of visitors and tourists has increased compared to the same period in 2024, but mainly domestic visitors come to visit, shop, experience cultural, sports, tourism and entertainment activities organized in localities. The number of guests staying increased slightly compared to the same period (5.59%), showing that the number of visitors to Ca Mau has increased but not much because there are no new attractive products to attract tourists from travel businesses.
