Focus on serving the people
In Hanoi , from 8am, many one-stop shops of districts: Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem... had a full staff of civil servants and public employees on duty, ready to serve the people, even though the number of people coming to transact and carry out administrative procedures was quite low.
At many hospitals in the area, although during the recent Tet holidays, staff and doctors were constantly on duty to ensure emergency care and medical examination and treatment for patients, on the first official working day of the year, everyone was still present in large numbers. At the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, after the spring flag-raising ceremony, unit leaders and many staff members donated blood voluntarily.
In Ho Chi Minh City, at nearly 8:00 a.m. on February 15, Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hoa went to the People's Committee of Ward 15, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, to certify the authorization file to receive social benefits. Less than 5 minutes after submitting the file, Ms. Hoa's documents were completed and returned. According to the staff of Ward 15, because the ward officials were authorized to sign the certification, the files submitted by the people were processed on the spot and sent back immediately, without much waiting time. It was noted that in the first 2 hours of the first working day, in Ward 15, more than 20 people came to make the files and all the files were processed quickly because 100% of the ward officials and civil servants were present on the first working day of the year.
At the Thu Duc City Land Registration Office Branch, at around 8:30 a.m., 9 people came to transact. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, who went to do real estate paperwork, said that it only took her 7 minutes to complete the application. Although some people had to provide additional paperwork, they were also excited because they did not have to wait long, thanks to quick instructions and full information. The Thu Duc City Land Registration Office Branch has 23 transaction counters, and from early morning, there were enough civil servants coming to work.
At the People's Committee of An Phu Dong Ward, District 12, many people have come to do administrative procedures since morning, most of them to certify documents to submit job applications and real estate documents. Just arrived to punch the ticket in less than 5 minutes, the civil status officer called his name, Mr. Nguyen Van Ty (from Binh Thuan ) only had to wait another 10 minutes to certify his job application...
Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Lan, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of An Phu Dong Ward, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City, informed that since the end of 2023, the ward has held meetings to promote the working spirit for cadres, civil servants, and public employees. During the Tet holiday, the ward assigned staff to handle urgent work for the people, so the death certificates were processed promptly for 3 cases...
Bustling production right after Tet
Mr. Dang Dinh Quynh, Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks in Ha Nam Province, said that on February 15, the working atmosphere in most enterprises in 8 industrial parks in the area returned to normal. By February 15, 374/448 enterprises were operating with 71,717 workers returning to work at factories. Among them, there were workers 300-400km away from the factories such as Ha Giang , Son La, Lai Chau... who were able to return on the first working day.
In provinces with many industrial parks in the North such as Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc... by February 15, tens of thousands of workers also entered their first shift.
According to SGGP reporters, from early morning on February 15, a line of people came to the District 3 Post Office (HCMC), lining up from the yard to the gate. On the first working day, the number of people coming here was large, mainly people coming to receive social benefits. In front of the post office, there were 2 rows of chairs for people to sit, some people brought breakfast to eat while waiting for their turn to submit their books.
Present at 7am, Ms. Vo Thi Tuyet (living in District 3) said that the post office staff worked continuously since morning, everything was resolved quickly, so she was very satisfied.
According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, at some factories, the rate of workers returning to work reached 90%-95% as of February 15. Some localities and businesses have lower rates, but are forecasting that there will be enough workers from February 19. Many textile, footwear, and electronics enterprises in Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Hanoi, etc. have found orders and are actively announcing labor recruitment, for example, in Bac Giang, 13 enterprises are announcing the recruitment of more than 13,000 workers in the first quarter of 2024.
In Ho Chi Minh City, on the first working day, more than 80% of workers at PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. were present at the factory to start their shift. According to Mr. Cu Phat Nghiep, Chairman of the Labor Union of PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd., 80% of workers returning to the factory were mostly those who stayed in Ho Chi Minh City and the Western provinces, Long An. At Printing Joint Stock Company No. 7, on the 6th day of Tet, more than 95% of workers returned to work. According to statistics, about 50% of enterprises in export processing zones and industrial parks in Ho Chi Minh City reopened on February 15, about 80%-90% of workers at these enterprises returned to work at the factory.
According to the Lao Cai Provincial Customs Department, since the Lunar New Year, 61 enterprises have participated in importing and exporting goods through Kim Thanh border gate (Lao Cai city) with a total of 401 declarations (mainly exporting fruits and importing vegetables...). The total value of import and export turnover during the Tet holiday through this border gate reached nearly 13 million USD, an increase of 3.6 times compared to the same period in 2023... By February 18, customs clearance activities through border gates in Lang Son province returned to normal.
On the afternoon of February 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and encouraged farmers in Hai Duong province. Going to the fields to encourage farmers in the winter-spring rice crop in Hung Long commune, Ninh Giang district, the Prime Minister visited the tray-seedling production area and the machine-sown rice fields.
After listening to the report on the 2024 winter-spring rice production situation and the application of mechanization in rice cultivation, the model of applying high-tech agriculture in rice production in Hai Duong, the Prime Minister directly sat on the transplanter to control the rice planting in the field. Next, the Prime Minister and the working delegation visited the carrot production area focusing on export; visited Duc Chinh Cooperative, the carrot processing and packaging facility and cut the ribbon to congratulate the export of the first spring carrot shipment in Duc Chinh commune, Cam Giang district. The Prime Minister harvested carrots with farmers and talked and encouraged them at the carrot harvesting area.
